IRONICALLY, the only TROLLS in this thread are the select few who decided to take my description of a knock & attack me, making the assumption that I was being homophobic. I know myself well enough, & so do my friends. What else matters? You're so backwards, & no matter how sincere I am it is't going to change a thing, so this is my final post. I'm out.
  2. ................................................ Right. EDIT: Just because someone thinks it's okay to slip in a few homophobic euphemisms in the dictionary & bring a whole new meaning to the word "limp" when combined with "wristed", does not mean we all think like that. Again, that says more about you, not me. In any case, it turned out to be Jehovah's Witnesses. I've never known them to persistently knock on a week day. Thanks for the heads up, paulu1973. I was told it was probably a political party because they tend to have a certain way of knocking {according to my mum}. I just wanted to make sure. It might be worth catching them next time I'm around & asking them to stop knocking.
  3. Don't worry, JoeLeg. Sue doesn't appear to be getting out of her bed any time soon.
  4. Sue, you do understand that limp is a word with a whole meaning of its own, right? If I had written a "limp knock", rather than a "limp-wristed" knock, you probably wouldn't have jumped to the conclusion that I was being homophobic, correct? I'm just destroying brain cells at this point by reading your messages. Take LIMP for what it means. It was, by every definition of the word LIMP, a limp wristed knock. End of discussion.
  5. There is, without a doubt, some very thirsty individuals who, without fail, challenge the most mundane of posts, turning it into something ugly & off topic. Unfortunately, the internet is also used by many insercure individuals who don't bring their online persona out into the real world.

"Limp wristed is/was a euphemism as described by P68 during less enlightened times" - nxjen ... probably time to ditch your dusty old book of euphemisms, Sue. If I ever used the word "limp wristed" infront of my friends, it has gone straight over their heads. 2018, just saying! Thank you so much for clearing that up, Dom.
  7. Telling me how "homophobic" I am says more about you than it does about me. I certainly wasn't thinking homophobic when I used the word limp wristed to describe a poor sounding knock. This forum is toxic, thanks to those who spend their lives on it, jumping at any opportunity to take down anyone with an opinion. So no, Alan Medic, you would be wrong to think I ever was apart of such a forum. I've only ever viewed without an account. I'm young, have studied & work in the art industry. 95% of my friends ARE gay. For all anyone on this forums knows, I could have well been gay, but I am not. Thanks for the feedback.
  8. Sue, you are, at the very least, 25 years older than me, but I did not have you down as a degenerate... quite yet. An UNMANLY knock. A loose, quiet knock has been heard, by the hour. You obviously have nothing useful to add to this thread, & it seems you spend most of your life in bed, as you're on these forums 24/7. Go get some fresh air. It'll do you some good.
  9. Since you have so much time on your hands, Sue, why don't you google search that.
  10. I've been told that the Lib Dems are back at it again with their persistent, limp-wristed knocks. I've been busy all morning, too busy to catch the door, but have had 3 knocks so far, a knock per hour, & not expecting anyone. Can anyone confirm? Appreciated.
  11. Have you not tried the numbers Angelina suggested? Call an animal rescue charity or get back on the phone to the RSPCA.
  12. http://i66.tinypic.com/4r3q7r.png Oh diddums.
  13. Applepears Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Because I know who you are... why don?t you tell > the truth on here then,,,not tell lies .. I don't think OP would be speaking of their detailed experience & asking for advice if it wasn't the truth. Perhaps you're the neighbour in denial, in which case: Mind turning the volume down or investing in some headphones perhaps? :D
  14. I think it's meant to be considered polite to drop your neighbours a friendly note letting them know just how loud they're being. It is possible that they're just not aware of it. But otherwise you can report them to the Noise Team { http://www.southwark.gov.uk/noise-and-antisocial-behaviour }. I've called on them before & have found it to be very effective. They arrive within the hour, but they will need to be able to hear the noise for themselves. EDIT: ... I don't think anybody should have to wear earphones in their own home to cancel out a noise. If your neighbours are deaf, perhaps it's time they get themselves checked out or send them earphones if they don't want to turn the volume down :)
  15. To clarify {for those who clearly have an issue reading & taking in the information given} *** I've had countless deliveries stolen by Hermes. Apparently they have stand-ins over the weekend & that just so happens to be every single time I have had my parcels stolen. *** My regular delivery guy {who works for Hermes, a dreadful service if you bother to do any research at all on how they run their business} is a genuinely nice guy who is very good at his job. So I do believe there are many more like him working for this company. Nobody's painting anyone with the same brush. Read. & I was suggesting Click & Collect as an alternative. Just because I said I collect from Londis, doesn't mean that's the only shop you can collect from. I just choose Londis because it's the most local to me. I live in East Dulwich, this is the East Dulwich Forum.
  16. I'm not sure what OP means exactly.. you'll need to provide more information. It's not the best idea to have deliveries dropped off in your front garden, they will likely get stolen. But I've had countless deliveries stolen by Hermes. Apparently they have stand ins over the weekend & that happens to be every single time I have had my parcels stolen. They are signed by the deliverer & Hermes will refuse to give more information on this... terrible, terrible service. It's not news... you'll find awful reviews all over the internet. Avoid using them if you can. Edit: Oh & it's worth noting that Next have been using Hermes & their customer service said that they plan on switching delivery services due to the amount of complaints over stolen parcels they've been getting. At least 2 of my stolen parcels have been from Next. I've started using Click & Collect {collect from Londis} which has helped significantly. Londis is great.
  17. We're very fortunate to have a lot of wildlife down the back of our garden. Plenty of foxes, squirrels jumping from tree to tree often catches my attention when I'm in the kitchen. Wrens, robins, black birds & blue tits are often seen. Early Spring to early Autumn I can hear birds singing late into & throughout the night from my bedroom which is up in the extention of our house. It sounds like a rainforest. Very beautiful. This week I had a squirrel make off with 3 of 4 suet balls from our bird feeder. They're making good use of the left overs & everything we've cleared out from the back of our cupboards recently. They were intended for the birds during these cold months, but they have their feeders {a feeder for each type of bird food, all around the garden}, so I guess it's okay.
  18. I couldn't care less for young children & parents. They're not superior. I do however care for those who are either elderly, blind or in a wheelchair, & that it's just not aesthetically pleasing.
  19. There is a guy on the end of Hindmans Rd {where it crosses into Upland Road} often seen outside, either washing or fixing his car, who does own a dog I have witnessed barking. I too hear the repetitive barking, that seems to last for hours, however I have not heard the barking as of late. It's extremely irritating & do hope the owner has been confronted by now. If you should continue to hear the barking, take a walk & try to follow the sound. Since the barking is "non-stop" it should give you enough time to trace it to the dog in question.
