Nunhead Cemetery Open Day is on 16 May 2015. We're trying to make it better each year. This year we're including traditional local trades with an emphasis on people showing how things are made, to make it more interesting for children and adults alike. We'll be having woodwork, blacksmithing, a locksmith and stone carving, for example. If you make things and want to demonstrate your skills, please contact me by email. We can't pay, but it would be great publicity for someone starting out in business, as depending on the weather we expect between 2,000 and 3,000 visitors on the day. Regards, Tim

Thank you for the head-swelling praise. I'm not a professional sculptor, I just love making things based on the slightly worrying pictures in my brain. Yes, Giggirl, she is a bit top-heavy. In mitigation, I can only plead being a bloke.

And, just for PeckhamRose, here's Snow Strumpet from last year...

Try Southwark Council's office at Brenchley Gardens. They hold all the records for burials in the Borough. Good luck.

I love the way that snow brings out people's imagination. However, it has also caused the collapse of civilisation as we know it, and wild animals have invaded my front garden...

None of the local boys tried anything or so much as threw a snowball at it. I think they were too busy drooling. And I lost count of the number of people who said, "She's lovely, but I bet she's frigid." Let's hope for more snow next year - I've never seen so many families out having a good time as I did that Monday, and everyone smiling and waving.
