  1. James B. I am against the cpz but don't subscribe to the view that it's just a revenue raising exercise. That said, how much cash do you think it could raise? Also, it seems this was going to be looked at without even mentioning it to other areas which would be affected. Surely it shouldn't be up to the eagle eyed OP to inform us about plans for such a radical change to the character of our area?
  2. There seems to be sone consensus here that the consultation exercise has some pretty glaring omnissions . Anyone know the legal position if the council decides to force the CPZ on us despite a faulty consultation ? Actually just re reading the document, some of it seems pretty nutty. The assertion that CPZs make provisions like " trees and on-pavement cyclist parking more acceptable " is a particular oddity.
  3. Black Sheep is ok. Friendly lot and very lovely garden out the back. They were doing two for one mojitos a while back. Chilled music. Hell, I'm coming too !
  4. Tesaa Jowell
  5. Maybe if they swept the freaking streets more regularly there wouldn't be an issue. And yes when I lived in F Hill there was a sort of "crap line" to get this vile stuff swept up.

Where are those ? I seem to have missed them .
  7. A decent steak does wonders for mental acuity Thomas, old son.
  8. Ha! Great stuff!
  9. Yeah Hisar has gone very average. Used to be great.
  10. Sorry, I love kids but the OP is right. It's just plain annoying having hordes of kids charging about a pub when you just want a nice time with your mates. Not so bad at lunch time I suppose but later on , it really gets irksome . Makes it feel like mcdonalds. Almost makes you wish for the pre smoking ban days.
  11. Crikey ive always quite enjoyed it at Barcelona. Am I misguided? Seems much like any other tapas joint. Is it the proximity to Forest Hill that bothers people ?

  13. No Maxxi I think the objection to the BBCs tone is it's unthinking parroting of the NTCs version of events. Lets not kid ourselves ... These don't look much like western style democrats to me. Deeply uneasy about NATOs role in all this ... Especially this gruesome denouement . I am not against regime change per se. But if you're gonna have the balls to do it, at least have the balls to say thats what you're doing. Hiding behind the fig leaf of "protecting civilians" just makes you look dickish. This feels different from our (belated) but much needed intervention in the Balkans ...of which I think we should be proud.
  14. Kate Ford are you sure it's the flats? Round my way( hindmans ) the street cleaners take the blue bin bags out of the street bins and thoughtfully leave them out overnight for the foxes to tear open .And generally , the streets of ED do look pretty filthy. But hey, at least the council can turn out funky new recycling bins . Good to know they've got their priorities straight.
  15. Randombloke has nailed it . Official.
  16. Imaginative I guess, but feels oddly creepy. Like some post apocalyptic urban wasteland . Ever see "I am Legend"?

Some people's Correct analysis. Sam probably reacted out of instinct and pride. Economic cost benefit analysis probably didn't cone into it. Good luck to the fella. 19. Man attacked with a shovel in what sounds like a vile attack... And the concern on here is about the dog? That does feel weird. Red Devil, you devil, you just had me laughing so hard on the train to London Bridge I attracted nervous attention from my fellow passengers. Judging by the linguistic skills and generous sentiment displayed in Illys last post, it may well have been dictated by Marnie!
  20. Outways? More meat for you Thomas , I think. It aids spelling.
