  1. Hi, please can anyone recommend a removal company? Not moving far but will need some storage too. Moving from a 4 bedroom house. If you have used someone good recently please let me know. Thanks.
  2. Agree with all the above. Those packet noodles are handy too. Very cheap and easy for them to make. Probably need to get quite alot of milk, eggs and bread in too.
  3. https://www.oldcollege.co.uk/ They do lots of sessions for children.
  4. Thanks gumshoe and damzel. Great to hear the positive experiences.
  5. 17 years ago we sold our last property privately so we have only bought through agents. I don't think I'm quite up to the job at present as my job is very inflexible in terms of being able to take calls during work time etc. Can anyone share good experiences with local agents please? We will be putting our 4 bedroom house on the market very soon and have had a couple of valuations this week. I'm wondering which ones seem proactive with buyers and push the sale along efficiently without bullying. Both agents who came round mentioned something about 'soft launching' - or something like that - whereby they contact prospective buyers already on their books in order to test the market before they put it on their website and other property websites - anyone got any experience of this please? Thank you.
  6. Dunstans is a lovely road, I don't live on it but am just round the corner from it. Advantages are: between Peckham Rye and Dulwich Park Depending on what end you are moving to there is a good parade of shops on Forest Hill Road and also the library end of Lordship Lane Some nice pubs and cafes nearby. Lots of greenery. Bus stops on Lordship lane, Barry Road, Underhill Road and Forest Hill Road are all handy. Great view from Dawson Heights. I agree about the school traffic but there is always going to be something. I have a few friends who live on Dunstans and I have honestly never heard them complaining about the noise of the traffic. We've lived this end of ED for 17 years and it is really lovely.
  7. Hello. Try Tom Williams https://www.woodmonk.co.uk/ He has done a few things for us over the years and all have stood the test of time very well indeed. Best wishes
  8. Thanks all - I agree they are hard to contact at the best of times. But I'm pleased to say I managed to get hold of them and got a prescription.
  9. Hello. I've been trying to contact The Gardens Dental Practice for a couple of days as I need to get some antibiotics. Just going straight to answerphone. Not returning messages or email. Just wondered whether anyone on here has managed to get through to them. I know they are open as I went for an appointment there last week. Thanks.
  10. Really sorry to hear that Sarah-Marie. I hope you find somewhere just right very soon.
  11. Hi Sarah-Marie - yes I've used Whites before (not for F&B colour though) and the colour they mixed using Johnsons was fine. Someone also asked on here about B&Q own brand paint - I very recently used it and it was very good. I got it in their colours though. I've also just used some Screwfix own brand paint to do our very weathered garden shed and it has come up really well - sorry, nothing to do with your original question Sarah-Marie but I've been on a roll decorating recently!
  12. Hi Sarah-Marie White's in Brockley also match F&B colours - might be best to call first. H White & Son Ltd ddress: 42-44 Brockley Rise, Forest Hill, London SE23 1LJ Hours: Open ⋅ Closes 5PM Phone: 020 8690 9040
  13. Not aware of one in Peckham. Dulwich Park Runners - very friendly and welcoming. Good variety of ages. Good range of paces. I've been m member on and off for the last 17 years. Dulwich Runners - never been a member but know some people that run with them and they sound good - think they are quite serious and have a faster image. I could be worng though! Runhead - I assume that's the one you know about in Nunhead. I have heard are friendly and welcoming too. I think their make up is less diverse in age than Dulwich Park Runners and Dulwich Runners. eg 20s and 30s. But I could be wrong. Whenever I've seen them they all look much younger than me - but that's not hard now! Hope you find a club that suits your needs and is convenient to you.
  14. This thread really saddens me. I have heard from some people that there are parents actually dropping their teenage children to Dawson's Hill to hang out and spend their evenings/ nights there. It is beyond belief. These are teenagers from very privileged backgrounds who are more or less being given permission from their parents to go and trash up local green space. They are not teaching their children to have any respect for other people and the places where other members of the community live. These parents would be straight on the phone to the police if big groups started hanging round outside their properties, making noise through the night and leaving litter behind. It is so bad. I am not sure how much the police can do but the parents need to take responsibility and stop letting their kids go up there. I've got 2 sons aged 15 and 13 and there is no way I would let them go up there to hang around at night. I'm fully aware that teenagers are missing their friends etc but the fact is we just have to get on with it. Most people have broken the rules in some shape or form but this is just taking the piss. Although I think the kids are acting really selfishly I'm more cross about the parents who are letting their kids go up and make life more than difficult for the residents - it really is not fair.
