  1. Hi traveller1, I booked this last week, but it's not now on the joininuk website (maybe because the course is full?) lots of other things on there to try though - for some reason you seem to have to trawl through events which have passed.
  2. There is a temporary open air swimming pool at Decathlon Surrey Quays car park. You just need to get a Decathlon store card and you can swim for free. Most Odeon cinemas hav a cheap film every day in the holidays - costs ?2.50 each - adults free (this week is Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked). If you go to www.joininuk.org there are lots of cheap free sporty things to do. My daughter is going to Crystal Palace Sports Centre on Friday 10 - 1 to try out some athletics. How about ice skating at the new rink in Brixton? - Planet Ice (behind the tube station)
  3. I'm so looking forward to this. Incidently, the first episode re Deptford High Street is being repeated on Tuesday at 11.20pm (BBC2)
  4. I loved this tv programme. Do you need to book tickets to see the tapestries or can you just turn up at the gallery? Also is there an admission charge?
  5. Fairlawn Choir will be performing there too.
  6. There is a party on Piermont Green (next to the Herne Tavern), not sure if you can just turn up and join in though!?
  7. The Half Moon Pub, Half Moon Lane, Herne Hill?
  8. Horniman School on Monday evenings - but there is usually quite a long waiting list. PM me if you would like further details.
  9. Great - made me cry!
  10. I bought a Click it from Boots for ?5 - it gives you a tiny electric shock and should be used as soon as possible after a bite/sting. I used it yesterday after being stung by nettles and it really works - stopped all itching and swelling. It treats up to 2,000 bites.
  11. The house that has been converted into flats is next to Francesca Cabrini School and I think nuns still live in accomodation on the other side of the school. If you contact the headteacher, I'm sure they will be able to give you more information.
  12. Kingsdown, Walmer (near Dover) is a nice site overlooking the Channel (beach is pebbly). A very easy drive on the A/M2 of less than 2 hours.
  13. It's open from 11am till 5pm on weekdays during school holidays.
  14. Junior Jujitsu at the Ackroyd Centre, Ackroyd Road (opposite The Chandos pub) Monday and/or Friday evenings 6-7pm. Just turn up in tracksuit. Sensei Colin Elgie and the first four weeks are free.
  15. I also went last night and thought the show was great - especially the motorcyclists in the sphere (I could barely watch!!!)
  16. I am very disappointed that the annual Irish Festival at Peckham Rye will not take place this year because of withdrawal of funding from Southwark Council. Hope that this is not the end for the festival.
  17. I agree with newcomer - I had two c sections. Take it easy, bond with your baby at home in the warm. Put your feet up and rest whenever you can. Breastfeeding is the best way to get your body back in shape (but if you're not, don't beat yourself up about it).
  18. The Horniman have a carol concert at the bandstand this afternoon at 5pm - can get very busy. (Wrap up warm).
  19. They are filming an advert for Boots
  20. There is a brownie/guide group that meet on Mondays at Horniman School. Please PM me if you would like further information.
  21. Just installed today - the most adorable dogs in the flower beds in the middle of the road - had to slow down for a proper look. Fantastic!!! I want one too.
  22. I used to like the one o clock club in Crystal Palace Park when my girls were little and also the free storytime sessions at Dulwich Library (and also Forest Hill library) with a song, a juice and a biscuit at the end.
  23. Have no idea which schools uniform you are describing but virtually all schools are due to break up on Friday 28th May for the summer half term. I think some private schools have two weeks off. Most children will be back at school on Monday 7th or Tuesday 8th June. Hope that helps.
  24. Hi Browncoffee, lots of your neighbours children go to Fairlawn and Francesca Cabrini which both have nurseries. Fairlawn nursery is in Waldenshaw Road (just behind Sainsburys in Forest Hill) and has 45 morning and 45 afternoon places so fairly easy to get into. The downside is that its quite a walk from Marmora Road and parking is restricted to residents only (though you could park in Sainsburys and walk round the corner).Unfortunately a place at nursery does not guarantee a place in reception. Good Luck
  25. Absolutely love them but they would have been better on the rubber play surface rather than the grass.
