  1. We took our 2 year old and the toddler area seemed a bit young for him but not quite ready for the older part although he gave it a go!! Have to say that charging for an adult to also go in is a crime!!!! Makes for an expensive Sunday arve....
  2. Enjoy long lazy hot lunches with friends without being interrupted!! Leisurely read the Sunday newspapers, lying on the sofa, without it being prized from your hands or you being used as a trampoline!! Definitely only think about you and your partner as this soon becomes in the order of child, partner, work and eventually you!! Would I change it? Not a chance as it certainly has been the most amazing journey to date. All the best.
  3. Maybe try a yoghurt drink in the morning if worried? Munch Bunch do small containers that my boy loves in the morning with his breakfast. Also find it a good filler on the way to nursery!
  4. Omeprazole was my saviour! Prescribed by my doctor and safe during pregnancy. It was better than Gaviscon for me as it had no effect and made me gag too.Continued taking after for about 6 months as unfortunately my heartburn didn't subside with birth....still suffer every now and then 2 years later!
  5. Go straight to a single bed with bed guards.Only option that worked for us. Our boy refused to go in his cot bed with sides so took them off when he was 20 months old and he refused to sleep in his cot bed. Bought some dusty moon dream tubes that narrowed the sides of the cot bed and as he likes to move around at night he seemed to fall out. So we bought a single bed with bed guards and he loves it...room to move and comfier mattress. At just turned 2 he sleeps soundly in it and have only had one night of hearing'mummy fell out!'
  6. Got one, use it, set up direct debit with it so it is paid immediately. Not many perks that I have seen but you do get coupons with % off when statement is sent or vouchers for 50p etc off though I never have them on me. Also sent special offers. I think when you open your store card you get 10% off or it was 2 years ago which did help with initial outlay on items. Have found it useful if in there and just putting on the card. Not sure if it is difficult to close it although can't see why it would be??
  7. Different perspective but we never used dummies. Not able to offer advice on how we escaped using them! Bought a couple before my sons birth, which I recently discovered 2 years later during our house move, but never offered them. He did suck his fingers for a short time. Go with the floe and see if your little one will require it.
  8. No I am confused - scooter or bike!! Hubby did say 'told you so!'
  9. Okay so my son has chosen to be different and stand using potty and loo!!
  10. Thanks nunheadmum for the advice. Think we shall go for it and see how he takes to it all. Don't think it could be any more stressful then what we have been through this week - may as well deal with all the stress in one go! We have been following his lead and he seems to be telling us what he wants with regards to it.
  11. OMG that is so cool!! Something tells me that Daddy will say 'Told you so'. Maybe a Christmas present? njc97 - have you tried/bought one of these?
  12. I realise there has been other threads on this which I have read with interest but have started a new one for advice. My boy is 23 months old and I think ready to go for the full potty training time! We have had a potty around home since he was 18 months and he has been introduced to it at his nursery since then too (just to sit on and see). He would not sit on it at home only if I was sat on the second one! In the last 3 weeks he has shown more of an interest especially in the last couple of days. Every morning we take his nappy off and he goes and gets his potty and does a wee as well as in the evening before bath. Takes great pride after he has, lots of clapping, won't do it in front of us and empties his bowl in the toilet(with me helping to guide him for any spillage). He refuses to sit down on it and stands, aims and hits the bowl. I'm quite impressed by this although he does practice in the bath with his jug! He will also use the toilet training seat independently, before bath, with his step up stool. About half an hour after using his potty this morning he asked for his nappy back on and we asked if he wanted to do a poo, as he did this once before and I didn't listen to him and had a lovely explosion all over his bedroom floor. He was happy to sit on his potty and passed wind. After this he left his nappy off until time to get ready for nursery. He has started occasionally using the potty at nursery and is fascinated by his older brother of 11, who is visiting us for the school holidays, using the toilet. We have also introduced boxer/pants which he is delighted with. Okay, questions are: Do boys go straight to standing up rather than sitting down? Will he understand about sitting for poos?(We have talked about it) Are moving house tomorrow(small flat to large house with garden) and considered toilet training? Off on holiday Wednesday, for 1 week abroad, so should I avoid it? 9Will be spending most of our time by the pool/sea) The part about poos, he will always tell me while/after he does it, so will he get the idea? He seems to be increasingly telling me 'no nappy' when getting him ready in the morning - is this a sign? Also when he asks for nappy back on is this a sign of lack of confidence/security? Am on school holidays so wanted to give him a go at it before returning to school. Have read books by Gina Ford and another called 'Potty Training for Boys' but both have different approaches with the latter having a relaxed approach. Sorry for the rather long winded account!! Any advice greatly appreciated.
  13. They have a tin of wooden building blocks at Lidl this week for ?8.99. Look like good value!
  14. So as well as a scooter I need to be armed with band aids! Although my little one loves the Arnica cream in a stick which we call his magic cream. Thanks for everyone's help - I really like the different colours at John Lewis!! Hmm makes you wonder if buying for child or buying for mummy....
  15. Thanks Jollybaby for recommendations. Moos will keep that in mind. Off to get a micro mini which is better than my husband being laughably funny and suggesting a bike with training wheels - ha ha!!
  16. Well SJP can definitely have my sons nappy especially when he proudly says 'Done a poo Mummy' and tells my husband'No Daddy only Mummy change it' if he tries to!! She is more than welcome to them!
  17. Thanks can you recommend anywhere to buy them from ASAP. In the middle of a move this Friday and off to Cyprus next Wednesday for one week. Which doesn't give me much of a window to buy for his birthday on 24th!! Have looked online at the micro mini website.
  18. Wanting to buy my son a 2nd birthday present and thinking about a micro mini scooter. Just wondering if this was suitable for 2 year olds? He uses a Thomas 3 wheeler scooter and the scooters at his nursery. Any advice appreciated!
  19. Definitely not a mclaren techno as ours did not fit in our VW Polo. Bought a Quinny Zapp, folds up very small but does not recline. Then we bought a larger car and still love how compact it is as loads of space for shopping to fit in. We are really happy with the Zapp.
  20. West Wittering is brilliant and there is a fab camp site nearby!! (Can't remember the name of it as went a few years ago)
  21. My summer pregnancy consisted of stretchy maternity trousers (Next) Smock tops, over the bump leggings (H&M) and dresses from H&M. I also found some linen maternity trousers at New Look. Sorry have passed mine on. Also found wrap round dresses to be brilliant. Oh yes and H&M did some great under bump shorts with adjustable waist band which also helped after birth. Good luck I found it a trial to dress for the summer especially working!!
  22. Okay, after reading this thread we ventured to Whitstable today. May not have been the best weather but sunny intervals and had a fantastic time as well as it not being overcrowded. My 23 month old loved trying to skim the stones on the water and we found a lovely cafe to buy ice creams in a cute garden area, before driving home. A realy enjoyable day! Now to try out some of the other recommendations....
  23. Funny but Lansinoh didn't work for me but lathered them in Kamillosan and worked a treat!!
  24. Definitely get yourself to the GP for Omeprazole. I suffered severe heartburn when pregnant and this was prescribed - very safe. Better than drinking the gallons of Gaviscon that had no effect and seemed to make it worse. Also sounds like your ongoing cough could be sapping you of your energy levels - as if being 6 months pregnant isn't energy sapping enough. Hope you begin to feel a little more on top of things and if not get loads of rest!!At 6 months and a busy 5 day week I spent alot of time on the weekend resting/sleeping. Know a bit difficult for you with another one at home. BTW I was enormous and suffered many of what you have described...maybe that's why I have left it at 1 for now....you're a better woman than me!
  25. Had a similar experience with spoon at 10 months and went back to syringe. Agree with Belle that they can be sneaky and spit it back out. Holding my sons cheeks like a goldfish seemed to work for us. Just wait until your son is approaching 2 and gladly asks for medicine like some drug addict!!
