I disagree that most in the area don’t like it. We all love it. Other people I know here love it. It’s such an improvement.

The newly landscaped Dulwich Square

This shows crime is essentially flat lining for the last three years, not increasing -

I live in the village and haven’t noticed any increase. I always feel safe here. We had our car broken into once, but that was a couple of years before the ltn was installed. Have seen two cycle-by phone thefts, both at the East Dulwich Grove/Townley crossroads. This sort of theft sadly seems to be on the rise generally across the city and has little to do with the Dulwich ltn. Never had a knock from the police but we may have been out… -

I don't see any need for an additional crossing. The area is so much safer and more pleasant than it used to be. You obviously need to look both ways when you cross the cycle lane, but you still would even with a zebra crossing... My child now comes home from school alone, but we wouldn't have allowed this without the ltn. It's a great place to sit with an ice cream in the evening too. -
We had Tom round last week to look at our dodgy kitchen lights. He came at short notice and installed 10 new lights on the same day. Great service! He’d previously done other smaller electrical tasks for us - always very responsive and reliable.

The one in Dulwich Village (in the chemist) is usually quiet. Also one on Crossthwaite Ave (off Sunray Ave). -
Elm Lodge Surgery Burbage Road
newresidentindulwich replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I’ve always had good experiences at Elm Lodge. Recently called about a (not that ill) child and they told me to bring her in later that day to see a nurse practitioner just to get her checked out. They have an automated call back system so you phone up, press to be phoned back rather than waiting on hold, and they ring back a few mins later. Can also easily book advance appointments on the NHS app. -
Christmas Eve Pageant details

The church on Calton Ave usually does some sort of parade on Xmas eve with real animals. -

We went last night and it was fantastic. Better than both Babur and Heritage in our opinions. -
We’ve had Julian Richards (07931 520713) build fitted wardrobes for us twice now, and a large built-in desk. He gave helpful advice and the results are excellent. Would recommend him. I originally found him through this forum, so passing on the details for others.

We used to live in Blackheath but moved to Dulwich a few years ago for the schools. We love Dulwich and don't regret the move, but we also love Blackheath and miss it. For us, the most important thing is minimising the need to drive and to make the most regular journeys (school drop offs, commute, visiting family) as easy as possible. We prioritised living near the school so that part of the day involved a short walk. I'd recommend working out how to make your typical day as easy as possible and look into living there. Whether that means an easy commute for you or an easy drop off, or whatever. It makes such a huge difference in terms of time and stress levels. Good luck!

Hi, As your post title suggests, you need urgent legal advice rather than anything else, from a solicitor experienced in construction disputes. I work in this area (although on high-value disputes rather than domestic ones), and can recommend this person https://www.greenwoods.co.uk/our-people/lorna-carter/ for domestic disputes. If you call she should be able to give you some immediate, and free, initial advice. Going forward, you'll have to pay for her advice, but it will be money well spent in the long run I imagine. Good luck.

Daughter going to Newcastle Uni mid Sept
newresidentindulwich replied to paddyp7's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi, I'm from Newcastle and I'm sure she'll have a brilliant time. My only tip is that if you do drive her up there, leave as early as you can to get through the Blackwall Tunnel before the traffic is at a standstill. We typically leave Dulwich around 7/7.30am on either Saturday or Sunday to minimise the driving time. It's also better to use the A1(M) than the M1... I wouldn't try to go there and back in a day - that would be a killer! Good luck. -

Help with a driving route

Hi, I'd go Kirkdale, Sydneham Hill, Lordship Lane, East Dulwich Grove and then right up Red Post Hill. Good luck!
