  1. I’ve always had good experiences at Elm Lodge. Recently called about a (not that ill) child and they told me to bring her in later that day to see a nurse practitioner just to get her checked out. They have an automated call back system so you phone up, press to be phoned back rather than waiting on hold, and they ring back a few mins later. Can also easily book advance appointments on the NHS app.
  2. Are there any live bands playing, or standup comedy, anywhere in or around East Dulwich on Saturday? Thanks in advance.
  3. The church on Calton Ave usually does some sort of parade on Xmas eve with real animals.
  4. We went last night and it was fantastic. Better than both Babur and Heritage in our opinions.
  5. We’ve had Julian Richards (07931 520713) build fitted wardrobes for us twice now, and a large built-in desk. He gave helpful advice and the results are excellent. Would recommend him. I originally found him through this forum, so passing on the details for others.
  6. We used to live in Blackheath but moved to Dulwich a few years ago for the schools. We love Dulwich and don't regret the move, but we also love Blackheath and miss it. For us, the most important thing is minimising the need to drive and to make the most regular journeys (school drop offs, commute, visiting family) as easy as possible. We prioritised living near the school so that part of the day involved a short walk. I'd recommend working out how to make your typical day as easy as possible and look into living there. Whether that means an easy commute for you or an easy drop off, or whatever. It makes such a huge difference in terms of time and stress levels. Good luck!
  7. Hi, As your post title suggests, you need urgent legal advice rather than anything else, from a solicitor experienced in construction disputes. I work in this area (although on high-value disputes rather than domestic ones), and can recommend this person https://www.greenwoods.co.uk/our-people/lorna-carter/ for domestic disputes. If you call she should be able to give you some immediate, and free, initial advice. Going forward, you'll have to pay for her advice, but it will be money well spent in the long run I imagine. Good luck.
  8. Hi, I'm from Newcastle and I'm sure she'll have a brilliant time. My only tip is that if you do drive her up there, leave as early as you can to get through the Blackwall Tunnel before the traffic is at a standstill. We typically leave Dulwich around 7/7.30am on either Saturday or Sunday to minimise the driving time. It's also better to use the A1(M) than the M1... I wouldn't try to go there and back in a day - that would be a killer! Good luck.
  9. Have had good experiences with Autocar Repairs on Rosendale Road, but don't think they are mobile. You could call and see? Address: 71 Rosendale Rd, Norwood, London SE21 8EZ Products and services: autocar-repairs.co.uk Phone: 020 8761 5226
  10. The Paxton used to have a decent play area pre-covid...
  11. Hi, I'd go Kirkdale, Sydneham Hill, Lordship Lane, East Dulwich Grove and then right up Red Post Hill. Good luck!
  12. Since we moved into our house a couple of years ago we have used numerous local tradespeople, many found using recommendations on this site. All have been fine but the painter who has just painted the outside of our house has been truly fantastic, hence this recommendation. He was incredibly thorough and went above and beyond, such as repointing a few areas, painting downpipes, etc. We had been contemplating new window frames but he has made this unnecessary. I really can't recommend him enough: Cecil Berry [email protected]
  13. I go to Memsaab fairly regularly (once every three months or so since moving here) and was pleased to get a booking on their website for dinner last week. We arrived at the correct time to be greeted by a packed restaurant and a big queue outside (not a socially distanced queue). I went in to ask for our booked table and was very rudely told to go away because they were full. I pointed out that I had booked a table on their website to be virtually shouted at that it wasn't their fault that the website was overbooking tables. Needless to say they've lost a customer - I won't ever go back.
  14. My husband had his bike stolen from outside the Dulwich Leisure Centre on Crystal Palace Road. Sometime between 5pm and 5.35pm. It?s a black and red B-Twin Triban 520 flat bar Sora road bike. It was locked to the bike rack and in view of CCTV. We've reported it to the police and filled in the form in the Centre to access the CCTV. Any info greatly appreciated. I've attached a picture just in case anyone recognises it.
  15. Hi lollol, did you get this work done? We're looking for someone recommended to do exactly the same job... Thanks!
  16. Thanks for your reply, sarahf. We have our uniform appointment to buy things next week (gulp!).
  17. Thanks, I'm gathering that they're not cheap to have removed, sadly!
  18. Hi all, We're soon to move into a house that has a huge Aga and we think we're going to try to sell it. Does anyone have any experience of this, or any recommendations of a company that could assist? Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi everyone, We're soon moving to the area because our daughter is starting in pre-reception at Herne Hill School in September. We've just received the uniform list and was wondering what to buy. There are lot of options, e.g. cord pinafore, cord skirt, jogging bottoms, shirt, t-shirt, etc. I was wondering whether any of you could let me know which of these the girls typically wear. I'd hate to shell out for a pinafore if she then won't wear it because none of the others do... Thanks!
