Our lectures are held at JAGS Sixth Form Centre the second Thursday of the month at 8pm. £49 for 10 lectures (£95 for couples), or guests £10 at the door (NB: in the Sixth Form Centre at the school, around the corner in Green Dale, off East Dulwich Grove; parking available), See http://www.theartssocietydulwich.org.uk or email [email protected].   2. The Arts Society Dulwich has a fantastic new season of illustrated lectures starting 8pm Thurs 14 October at JAGS Sixth Form Centre. Membership ?49 pa single, ?95 pa double for 10 lectures. Non-members ?10 each paying at the door (cash only), no booking required. First lecture 14 October The Jewel in the Crown: The Arabs & Normans (Jane Angelini).   3. The Arts Society Dulwich, local arts charity (www.theartssocietydulwich.org.uk; charity no. 280129)is looking for a Treasurer a.s.a.p. Nothing too onerous. Experience in book-keeping, gift aid/tax etc useful. Please contact [email protected] for more.
  4. Dulwich Park Friends have been organising weekly litter pick-ups on Mondays; the next one is 07.45 tomorrow morning, after the bank holiday. Seems such a shame that this is necessary - which can't people just take their rubbish home?
  5. Film buff? Like old films/documentaries? Come to The Arts Society Dulwich this Thursday 14 November, 7.30 for 8pm, at the Sixth Form Centre, James Allen's Girls' School (parking via Green Dale). The lecture tells the story of documentaries and the GPO film unit - showing clips from lots of old film including Battleship Potemkin, Man with a Movie Camera and Night Mail. ?9 at the door, no booking required. Dulwich Park Fair is open 12-5pm this Sunday 19 May and the Dulwich Vegetable Garden (community garden in the park, behind Rosebery Lodge) will have lots of lovely organic fruit, herb and veg plants for sale on our stall, carefully raised in our garden. We normally sell out quickly so come early, and bring your own bags if you can. PLEASE SUPPORT US - it's our main money-making event of the year and we need your ??? to keep us going. The Fair is a lovely day out, with lots of interesting stalls, a traditional funfair, magicians, performers, local children's choirs, a dog show, lovely food and drinks and so on - come along and enjoy this Sunday, as well as buying your plants.
  7. Dulwich Going Greener is no longer in operation (it closed in September 2016). Dulwich Vegetable Garden behind Rosebery Lodge in Dulwich Park is still going, and is always looking for more volunteers and session leaders. From 1 November to 1 March, it is open only on Sundays, 10.30-12.30. For the rest of the year it is also open on Wednesdays at the same time. Contact [email protected] if you are interested.   8. The two small meeting rooms at Rosebery Lodge in Dulwich Park are no longer available for hire. Regards Christine
  9. Join the Dulwich Vegetable Garden team for some seasonal cheer and Christmas treats in Rosebery Lodge, Dulwich Park this Sunday. It's our way of saying thank you to everyone who takes an interest in the garden, and anyone else in the park on Sunday 14 December from 10.30-13.00. Come and say hello, get out of the cold and enjoy Christmas goodies with us (no gardening or other strings attached - just seasonal goodwill). Rosebery Lodge is at the opposite end of the park from the main entrance in College Road, just beyond the rhododendrons/American Garden.
  10. It's the Dulwich Veg Garden Open Day tomorrow Sunday from 12-4pm at Rosebery Lodge in Dulwich Park (map attached). The DVG is a volunteer-run fruit and veg plot where everyone shares the produce. Open Day is our annual fund-raising event. There will be tea and luscious home-made cakes, fun and games for children, demonstrations, competitions, tours of the garden, inspiration and advice. Come and support us.   11. Dulwich Decorative and Fine Arts Society new season kicks off on 9 October. Ten illustrated lectures from October to July for only ?38 (?70 for two people). Meetings held at JAGS; parking at the school. Wide range of subjects includes Rembrandt; modern stained glass; Michelangelo; 20th century furniture design; Armenian culture and monuments; Roman town planning.   12. You could try volunteering at the Dulwich Vegetable Garden (DVG) behind Rosebery Lodge in Dulwich Park. We're always looking for more people. It's a volunteer-run community fruit and veg garden, and everyone shares the produce. During the winter the DVG is open Sundays only, 10.30-12.30.
