Recommendations for gardening work
villager1d replied to villager1d's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Thanks. We have now found someone to do the work for us. -
Hi, We are looking for someone to tidy up our garden as soon as possible. We're in Dulwich Village.

It is very simple. If the Council doesn't approve this plan, Dulwich Hamlet FC dies and all the excellent work it does with local schools and businesses goes down the pan. Much as some would like it, there is no realistic alternative. The cost of rebuilding the current stadium and bringing up to the health and safety standards required today would be prohibitive and quite frankly it is fanciable to think that anyone is going to stump up the money for that. We all complain that there is not enough housing in London, and yes not enough "affordable" homes are part of this plan, but here we have homes being built. It is somewhat Nimbyish to complain about a lack of housing and then complain when the houses are built near them. So, let's help our local club. It does so much for our local community.

I'd go further. Ensure that kids who go to DVIS, the Hamlet, Judith Kerr and the Charters live within walking distance of the schools to prevent parents driving them and clogging up the Village

There is no such thing as Dog Kennel Hill Wood. Are they even Southwark or Dulwich residents?

Good to hear that other people feel the same about Il Mirto. It is slightly off the beaten track so please spread the word. We think it's important to support independent local traders to stop them getting wiped out by the formulaic chains.

We had a nice meal today at Il Mirto, the Italian restaurant at the Grove Vale end of Melbourne Grove. It had been recommended to us by some friends. The place is small and homely, the food was fresh and delicious. Good to know they do takeaways and deliveries - we took a printed menu to keep at home. ilmirto.co.uk

I've just noticed that Evans have opened a cycle shop near Goose Green, and practically opposite a very good independent shop. We have several independents in our area which will lose out if the behemoth gains traction. Avoid.

It appears the school has become a Gove Academy, on the quiet, in the hope no one will notice.

Anyone know if DHJS has decided finally to go over to the Dark Side and become a Gove Academy?
