  1. 'The point about the rest of Greendale being untouched is an important one - and one that I've seen misrepresented many times' This is just not true. How can the rest of Green Dale remain untouched - imagine the building stage of this and how it will affect the place...imagine looking across this space and seeing a huge stadium with 6 stories of flats behind. I can honestly say that I have walked Green Dale almost everyday for the last 6 years - it is an amazing place. I and many others are utterly devastated by this. I would suggest passing on this wild space, as it is, to future generations is a duty we should all have to carry out. Imagine a future with more pandemics and needing this type of space more and more - once it's built on - that's it - it's gone. Only a couple of years ago the council were supporting Green Dale as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) in their New Southwark Plan. Southwark could lead the way and show that it cares for its community, their health and future in ways that we may only just be discovering are so important.
  2. Perhaps the council need to seriously look at how likely it is that the property developers will actually do anything to keep Dulwich Hamlet going at all. Look at the history please as rahrahrah says above they are 'An overseas property company who treated the areas with absolute disdain when they tried to trade mark the name Dulwich Hamlet Football in order to stop the club using it. They've behaved so, so badly. And yet they're allowed to put up tower blocks on metropolitan open land.'
  3. It's a beautiful place that many people use every single day. Anyone saying that it is 'unused' can't actually use it themselves, as they would know how well used and loved it is. Once the MOL is built on it will be ripe for more private development. RIP Green Dale. Only 2 1/2 years after this on Southwark's website 'The open space at Green Dale Fields in East Dulwich / Camberwell came back into council management on 21 January 2018, after a long lease to a third party. Minor works to install pathways, bins and benches are now complete. The Friends of Green Dale Fields are an active community group who love the space for it?s unusual wild appearance and ecological value. It has been proposed for designation as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) in the New Southwark Plan'
  4. It?s awful that the application has so many supporters. I just cannot understand why people can?t see what the developers are doing here. There are many locals and community groups that use the MOL every day, why would anyone want a beautiful piece of open land built on when it?s a space that we can all use for free. If you?ve never walked there please go early morning and you?ll see why so many locals are so dismayed at the thought of losing this space.
  5. Glad you reported. Call 101 if he comes back.
  6. There are several black cats that hang out top of Danby Street/ junction of Copleston Road. It may be worth having a look...I can?t tell from your photo if one could be him.
  7. It?s a long way from a road and doesn?t look like it?s got any bite wounds but it?s head is missing and it?s been partially skinned. Not sure what would cause these injuries but it?s a bit alarming and definitely sad as it was a lovely fox that I often saw while walking my dog.
  8. I am pretty sure I saw Atticus on Sunday/Monday at the top end of Copleston Road (copleston passage end)...he was walking and looking as if he knew where he was going...I'll keep my eyes open for him...
