  1. If you are in a wheelchair (a tiny, tiny fraction of the population) then you already know you have hard luck, a few extra bicycles on the street is hardly going to push you over the edge. Besides they are surprisingly competent at navigating obstacles, which is rarely taken into account. Its a stupid argument anyway. Typical NIMBY response to something they dont want or like- "what about the wheelchairs", "what about the schoolkids", "what about this, and what about that". Lets just do absolutely nothing in future in case we inconvenience someone somewhere, yeah?
  2. I don't see a huge issue even if they do block the odd pavement here and there. Just walk around them, its not hard. From what i gather it's mostly high and mighty mums with a pram or buggy that think they are entitled to a completely clear street at all times and will vehemently complain any time that is not the case, despite living in a built up city. If you see an obstruction, perhaps crossing the road might be an idea.
  3. I live close to Luca's and walk past it daily. I wont miss it at all- the folk sat outside it on weekend mornings and weekday afternoons look very smug and pleased with themselves as they chow down on expensive sourdough bread and avocado and talk to their pet dog tied up to the table. The only semi decent thing about it was the fact they sold pastel de nata, although that is hardly unusual these days. My bird did like the ice cream there, but its probably for the best she doesn't eat too much of it lest she put on weight,
  4. Nice one! Maybe you and the kids can play a new game, counting how many ambulances the traffic blocks, or how many underpaid nurses on the way to a shift at Kings you make late for work. Wouldn't that be funny?
  5. You are stubbornly choosing to ignore my point, which is a very valid one. House prices outside of London are not just as expensive. Lets not be silly now.
  6. If people bought a house for sod all 30-40 years ago which is now worth £1million, they have absolutely no right to bleat about being 'not cash rich'. They would be swimming in wealth in under a week if they took a trip down to Foxtons. Could buy an even better house 10 miles outside of London and still have plenty to throw around until they push up daisies.
  7. Why was that? That end of Lordship Lane is terrible on the weekends for traffic. It cant be doing all their little dahlings much good with all the stationary traffic fumes. Perhaps there should be part time traffic lights, but then i suppose people would be awfully put out if they couldn't cross the road whenever they wanted to with their family dog.
  8. East Dulwich is mostly unaffected by this crisis. Most people are loaded, and live in houses that are worth at least the £1million mark. Its why M&S moved in, taking over from the budget chain Iceland. If people can afford M&S shopping, 40p on a carton of milk or pack of pasta is not going to make a jot of difference to them, they are already wealthy enough to pay way over the odds for their groceries.
  9. Hisar has been awful for years, every time i walked past the doner looked like it had been going on the spit for months. We could do with a proper Turkish kebab place, where people are eagerly inside ordering Doner Kebabs every night. You know that they are good when you see this.
  10. Well, i agree with you a bit in terms of Dulwich Hamlet. I avoid it now too since it is nothing more than a big beer garden for middle class younger adults who spend the whole time drinking beer and discussing their next skiing trip- they couldn't give a hoot about the football match. Also, the Blythe is indeed a good pub, i was in there last Sunday. Its not that cheap though compared to Forest Hill pubs, but mercifully cheaper than the joke restaurant/pubs we have on Lordship Lane. Terrible places.
  11. They can- ever heard of these things called 'traffic lights'? You know, red man, green man etc. Everyone patiently waits until the lights stop the traffic so everyone can cross the road in one go, then the traffic can freely move again. Rather than a continual stream of buggies and dogs being led across the road blocking it for an entire day.
  12. He doesn't fight at football anymore so he is a reformed football hooligan, whatever your high and mighty views of his past may be. I'd far sooner run into him on a petrol forecourt for a chat that most folk round here who's idea of chewing the fat is having a whinge about someone parking in the wrong place or the fees of the local private school.
  13. Saw 'Ginger Bob', well known ex Millwall football Hooligan, at the Petrol Station the other day. I shook his hand, top guy.
  14. Is it as bad as being a bus passenger on a Saturday when it takes 10 minutes to get through the business end of Lordship Lane? Its high time they scrapped the ridiculous Zebra crossings by Goose Green, on the weekend its a continual procession of people with their kids + dogs crossing, consequently holding up the traffic and turning the area in gridlock.
