I have just moved into a 1960s flat with original Crittal windows in a bit of a state. Half of them don't open, the paint is all peeling off. I need someone experienced in adjusting and easing these kind of windows. Any recommendations (or who to avoid!) would be helpful.

Brad and his team did a big job for us a few years back, some refurbishment/maintenance and decorating of our house (Landcroft Rd) we rented out. I have no hesitation in recommending him!

Can anybody recommend a solicitor who can advise on a housing issue - I'm currently renting out my house while I'm abroad. Specifically need someone to look at the terms of the lease, if the tenant is in breach, and what I can do to reasonably do to enforce compliance. Looking for experienced, competent, fair pricing! Bryan did my EPC just recently. I don't hesitate to recommend him. He replied to all communications promptly, was flexible when Covid quarantine scuppered the initial appointment, and provided the certificate info quickly. PS. Price has gone up a bit, since original post ;-)

So, I heard back! lol Mark repaired my damaged front garden wall. Mark was really friendly and easy to deal with. Was reasonable with pricing, relaxed in his approach, and turned up when he said he would. I'm very pleased with his work and will use him again if I have any bricklaying/repair jobs.

Another recommendation for Lee, from me. I got him to sort out the internal decoration of my living room after a leak left a crack in the ceiling and the walls needing attention. His estimate was fair, I thought. He advised on paint type/finish and took it in his stride when the plaster started falling of the walls during the job! He arranged the replastering for a very fair sum and completed the redecoration to an excellent standard, within the original budget. He even found time to do a small extra job that I dropped on him once he was on site, cheerfully and for a fair price. If I need a decorator again (highly likely!) he will be the first one I contact.

I second this. I had a capital gains tax query and Ray was helpful and patient, gave clear advice and was happy to talk via Zoom. Initial consultation was free, and then the future work will be charged at (in my opinion) a very fair rate.

I have inherited an online discussion forum, and want to keep it going although it is beyond my skill set. I need someone to do the technical stuff (linux + vanilla open source software) and advise on hosting solutions. It needs some initial work to get it sorted out (hasn't been actively administered for many months) and then a bit of ongoing maintenance (which will be minimal). Another vote for Terry Botting. Nice guy, fair price, good standard of work. Cleared out my gutter for free while he was up the latter fixing the leak in my front bay! I'll definitely use him again.

John Marx, of Top Marx Kitchens. Did my kitchen in Landcroft Rd and he was brilliant. Patient, thorough professional and nice guy. Didn't mind that I didn't have a huge budget. His office manager (Gabi) was hugely helpful advising on which units and bits to order as I was a complete newbie, and I didn't use a design/supply company, just ordered all the components myself for John to fit.
