  1. Hi, we have a 21yr old family friend from Italy coming to stay for a few weeks this month to essentially be a short term au pair.. does anyone have an au pair who would be interested in meeting up? Maybe there are already groups that do this? On a related note, our children are at nursery during the day, so if anyone would like help with children who are on their school holidays our au pair could come and help for some extra pocket money. Thanks!
  2. Our amazing nanny runs an events decoration company specialising in children's birthdays, christenings and other celebrations. East Dulwich based: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090196735501 https://instagram.com/7027_events?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  3. We live nearby and Jessie who runs it is lovely. It was too expensive for us (otherwise we would have definitely chosen it) but she always greets us and has given us various bits of advice for our children and always says to come and chat if we ever need anything. We see lots of smiles, but can't comment personally on the nursery from direct experience. It does seem like a lovely place.
  4. We love our babyzen yoyo.. not cheap but very compact (can even take onboard planes as handluggage), lightweight, seems well built, lots of accessories if you want / as needs change etc.. there's a reason why you see them all over London! Go to any playground in East Dulwich and the majority will be babyzen yoyos ;) And of course congrats new mum! Good luck
  5. Brilliant, thanks all for the suggestions, much appreciated.
  6. Hi Steph, appreciate we're a bit late to this, but did you end up setting up a group? We had a baby early Spring..
  7. Thanks Redpost, unfortunately I've tried numerous distributors and showrooms, and noone has any of their doors on display.. even tried a showroom way outside of London, who had a door to be installed for a client that I could have seen (I don't mind that it wouldn't be fixed and "working") but they shipped it before I could get there.. Has anyone on the EDF had a velfac door?? Thanks!
  8. Hi all, very random request, and not quite sure which room to put it in... We need a new front door, and someone recommended Velfac, but apparently their nearest distributor with a showroom showcasing a front door is Milton Keynes.. not the most convenient from ED. Does anyone know anyone in the area that has installed a Velfac front door? If so, would they mind if I cycled over at some point to take a very brief external look at the door? I wouldn't disturb anyone and won't touch anything I promise! If don't feel comfortable sharing an address, any feedback or even a photo would be hugely appreciated! Many many thanks!
  9. Also had a middle of the night doorbell ring over the festive period.. have mentioned this thread to neighbours, thanks all.
  10. https://chng.it/ywpDHrhj Petition on this topic if of interest
  11. Ah, it must just be me then... Some do seem incredibly low!
  12. I realise that after all these lockdowns and some self quarantining that that world feels a little small... so I'm wondering if it's just my imagination and the fact that I've spent more time than ever at home.. Is it just me or do there seem to be a lot more flights, and regularly flying a lot lower (and therefore a lot louder) than there used to be? I never remember there being so much noise! I think there were various flight path changes not long ago, but from what I remember they weren't going to massively impact East Dulwich..
  13. Hi Sue, I use Google not Alexa, so not sure, but wondered if buying a second Alexa and plugging your hifi into the line-up could work? The following link seems to have 2 contradictory answers as to whether it would work.. but maybe worth a further google or contacting Amazon to ask them directly? (Not sure how much Alexa devices cost, maybe a bluetooth transmitter is more cost effective? Would that then allow multiroom?)
  14. Cannot recommend Jasper enough. We had a nightmare situation from old, horrendously installed circuits (dangerous in places) which some had said would be impossible to fix without a huge amount of building work and thousands of pounds. He was recommended to us as a saviour by our nextdoor neighbours, and didn't disappoint. Really helpful, informative, cleaned up, went beyond to think outside the box and come up with potential solutions (which worked perfectly). Very good value too. Enough waxing lyrical here, but if anyone wants more details DM me, you won't be disappointed with Jasper. PS updating: I've just seen that he posted info about his services on /forum/read.php?30,2037564,2037564#msg-2037564 Hope that helps anyone looking.
  15. If you make it over to West Dorset then the walk up Golden Cap gives you stunning views, and great fish and chips in the garden of the Anchor Inn at the bottom. Lots of the old pubs also have skittle alleys hidden in the back.
  16. Hi all, Just had a knock on the door from a friendly guy down from Newcastle T&D Fisheries selling fish. He says they're down every 12 weeks selling fresh fish in bulk to freeze - minimum 30 packets... If these guys do come down every 12 weeks then I guess they are legit. Has anyone bought fish from them before? I've heard stories of scammers selling bad fish door to door. I really hope they're legit, and not trying to take advantage of people during covid who are stuck at home without being able to get out to shop. Any intel much appreciated! Thanks
  17. Another recommendation for James (07816160353). Responsive on phone, visit took less than an hour, got the electricity up and running in circuit that previous owner had cut off, and isolated the fault. He was professional, friendly and explained a few things which was great. Thanks again James!
  18. As the title suggests, it's clapping for the NHS and clapping for carers, who are risking their lives to try and save more from dying. Landcroft Road and others were showing it's appreciation.
  19. Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Gerry helped us today, I'd spent most of the day trying to unblock the drain myself, failed and he fixed it really quickly. Very nice guy and taught me a few things in the process! Much appreciated.
  20. Some supermarkets are allowing the elderly first access to delivery slots, so hopefully they will start to have more options.. If it's italian, spanish, french or Portuguese i can try and help translate or explain.. But I'm guessing it might be a less common language.
  21. Have to say everyone I've spoken to likes the mural - adds a nice bright bit of colour and something a bit different. Nothing there to offend anyone, and more interesting than a blank brick wall. Hopefully it helps to keep some of the independent shops we're lucky enough to have plied with customers. I guess nothing will be to everyone's taste and everyone is obviously welcome to their opinions, I get that.
