  1. same here! I live on Dunstans and happy to help any way I can as I'm currently between jobs with no partner/kids/pets... (so plenty of time!). anyone who needs assistance, feel free to PM me as well :)
  2. where would I best report this? I've only lived in the UK 3 months so not sure what's the best number or place to call or go to..?
  3. yeah I'm ok. I usually try to be aware of my surroundings, I wasn't listening to anything, just had them still in from a phone call that had ended minutes before this happened. but I wasn't paying attention to the road because I needed to add a reminder for something so I wouldn't forget. a split second was all it took. I'll be reporting it tomorrow just to make sure they know it's happened again. lesson learned, I guess. the hard way.
  4. Hi all, I just wanted to make you all aware of what just happened to me. I was walking along Lordship Ln and while crossing Zenoria St a motorcycle with 2 people almost ran me over and then literally snatched my phone right out of my hands (earphones in my ears and all). considering it all happened within a split second I assume this is their thing and they will likely keep doing this. Maybe this is just me being new to London and you may all already be aware but still. Just wanted to warn everyone to keep your phones close to you when crossing the road or motorcycles are getting too close... PS: also, yes, I'm okay, blocked my SIM and secured everything via Google, I'm just shaken and pretty pissed off because I don't exactly have ?500 lying around for a new phone. and as a hobby photographer, mourning all the amazing pictures I took when I first came to East Dulwich in autumn.
  5. thanks everyone for the incredibly helpful advice! I will get in touch with the council to explain the situation and see what I/they can do.
  6. officially she lives there, like her mail is delivered there, but she's not actually there at the moment, she lives with her mother as far as I know, and has been for months according to my flatmate. I have a feeling she knows exactly what she's doing and is finding loopholes left and right. Thank you! I will get in touch with the council to ask what I can do. is there any certain way to go about this?
  7. hey everyone I need help / advice. when I moved to London 2 months ago I was desperate to have a UK address so I could apply for the NIN. I ended up lodging a place, quite literally a dump that cost me ?650 a month. the landlady was weird and shady from the beginning and I kept looking for another place after I moved in. I have recently found a new flat I've just moved into, and now my landlady is trying to keep my deposit because her old tv, that was in my room, broke a few days ago. I had notified her that the screen was flickering almost 2 months ago but she didn't care. now the screen gave up and she's accusing me of breaking it and threatening to keep my deposit. I have a temp job and will be unemployed come January so ?650 is a LOT of money to me and I am so upset she's trying to keep it on no grounds at all. I did nothing to that TV other than use it for what it was for. it's mounted to the wall so she can't even say I dropped it or anything. I honestly don't know what to do. I am desperate and don't know the procedures here. like where I could get assistance in this matter. she needs proof when she accuses me, right? she can't just keep my money without proving beyond a doubt that I had anything to do with it? can anyone help me out? I'm quite desperate to get my money back as I have done nothing wrong and feel screwed over. thanks in advance for any advice/help! Tanja x
  8. Hi everyone, I just moved from Switzerland to East Dulwich a little less than 2 months ago and so far have struggled getting to know anyone (mostly because I?m shy in social situations) so I figured I?d try the forum. :) (I hope this is the right section for this.) I?m pretty chill and would love to connect with people of all ages, backgrounds and interests, male or female, singles, couples, families, ? (I myself am 28, female, single, no kids but love children, currently no pets but absolutely a dog person). are there any local ?meetups? where my awkward self could try and get to know people? or would anyone be interested in meeting for coffee or a walk in one of the lovely parks? I?ve already checked meetup.com, but would prefer getting to know people who specifically live in ED since I?m a bit of a homebody and prefer to stay in or around this wonderful area as much as I can (other than work). related to this, is anyone else likely going to be alone for Christmas and would like to maybe do something one or both days? Cheers, Tanja
