  1. Hello! Theoretical models have proposed that difficulties in social cognition play a key role in the development and progression of disordered eating in anorexia nervosa. These difficulties are believed to fuel anxiety and isolation, creating more space for the illness to take over. However, there is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding the mechanisms through with these difficulties impact anorexia nervosa and how these difficulties should be examined. Therefore, we are developing new assessments to examine the role of social cognition in anorexia nervosa by examining both behavioural and brain responses to various situations. For this study we are looking for 18 ? 25 year old women with or without a current diagnosis of anorexia nervosa to help us evaluate the new assessments. The study involves a screening phone call and an in-person experimental visit to King?s College London Denmark Hill campus. The experimental visit will take approximately 2.5 hours and afterwards you will receive ?40 reimbursement. 2. We are looking for women aged 18-25 years old who have never been diagnosed with a psychiatric or neurological disorder to take part in a study developing new tasks to assess social-emotional processing. Study description: The aim of the research is to develop and test a set of new social-emotional processing tasks. Social-emotional difficulties have been postulated to play a key role in the development and progression of many psychiatric disorders including anorexia nervosa. However, there is a relative paucity of naturalistic paradigms that could be used to assess these difficulties. This study aims to address this gap by developing two new tasks assessing different aspects of social-emotional processing. What is involved? The study consists of: 1. A screening phone call, which involves establishing whether you are eligible to take part. 2. One experimental visit, which involves filling in some questionnaires and completing two computerised tasks. The first computerised task involves watching some brief video clips depicting various social scenarios and then you will be asked to what you think happened in each clip and what you think might happen next. During the second computerised task you will be asked to watch brief video clips depicting various social scenarios and rate how you felt watching each clip. You will be filmed during this task. How long will the study take to complete? 1.5-2 hours Where is this study conducted? 103 Denmark Hill, London SE5 8AZ, UK What are the incentives? All participants receive ?20 cash upon completion of the study. Has the study received ethical approval? This study has been approved by PNM Research Ethics Subcommittee (ref: HR-19/20-13004) Who should I contact for further information? If you have any questions or require more information about this study, please contact Jenni Leppanen ([email protected]), Department of Neuroimaging, King?s College London, 103 Denmark Hill, London, SE5 8AZ.
