  1. I recently called out Aria to sort a loft water tank overflow issue. Prompt as usual in getting back to me and sorting issue there and then. Have used several times and always manages to find time at fairly short notice to fix plumbing issues.
  2. Used Leon recently to do full electrical check on a property plus fit new ceiling lights and socket. Good price and quality of work. Also took time to explain future changes I could make. Highly recommend.
  3. Another shout out today for Aria and AFE who came round at very short notice to fix a plumbing leak that was causing damage.

  5. It?s a shame to see people on here and especially on Twitter mocking those who spoke against the proposed development. Now is the time to be acknowledging that for some the decision will not have been the right one and recognising that they equally are entitled to an opinion. This is still only a first step. There is still a total reliance on the developer to build a football ground fit for purpose and not revisiting its plans at a later date with revised proposals. You only have to look at the way the developers at Elephant and Castle steam rollered Southwark planning to extract more value to know this has a long way to go. The old DHFC was left with a stadium by the previous developer that was badly built and not efficient to run. The developer has zero interest in the future of the club and would probably prefer not having a noisy football ground built next to its luxury development. There may yet come a time again when all of East Dulwich has to unite to safeguard the future of DHFC. So don?t go mocking the very people who you may be turning to at a future date For support if things start to go wrong.
  6. The bit I am unclear about regarding the Southwark Council requirement to include an hourly rental cost is why it was not agreed to use a peppercorn amount instead. Whilst this would not eliminate any future risk of charging, it would at the very least minimise any future charge. Normally the rental charge would in part be to cover the maintenance and operation of the pitch when used by 3rd parties. This cost annually will be significant if used extensively. Is the club saying that it will be providing facilities for free ad finitem plus no overhead charge? If so, how is it being addressed within the business case for the club?s finance going forward? Exactly how is this all being contracted between all the different parties to protect both Southwark and the club in the future? I think some of the questions that have been raised on this are valid, albeit making the mistake of looking at it from an extreme position. If the council chooses to grant planning permission then it would be sensible to have the caveat that it will only be fully granted when all legal documentation between each party has been signed and verified as representing what was previously stated as intent. This is a position I would expect the club to require.
  7. If you never use the landline phone then Vodafone is good value. We are paying a 3rd of previous BT bill.
  8. "The signage is temporary, it's perfectly clear and yet they STILL ignore it. The issue with your story is not the road, the closure, the council or the signage - it's an entitled idiot dangerous DRIVER. Like the vast majority of problems on our roads. It will settle in though, there's nothing useful to be gained in terms of data from the first month of a closure. Let the idiots sort themselves out, the council fix any minor issues (adding to signage, putting extra bollards in across the pavements where required) and then the outcomes can begin to be examined." I've only being involved in transport for about 30 years, and aside from the odd global events which I have either led or advised on re transport planning, probably don't have the same level of experience as exdulwicher when it comes to temporary road closures. But I guess I'm still entitled to an opinion. So in my somewhat inexperienced view, the signing is both inadequate and non-compliant, the scheme has not been fully thought through, and using the excuse that it is purely down to idiot drivers if there is an accident either injuring or killing someone is not a form of defence I would ever use as the basis for how I set about transport planning work. I leave you with a picture of one of those "perfectly clear" signs. This is one of the better ones as most don't even exist.
  9. My wife witnessed what was very nearly a serious accident today at the Nelbourne Grove blockade. As per many drivers, only sees road block last minute so slams on brakes and throws into reverse, only just missing adult with child on a cycle coming out of Ashbourne Grove. I will be contacting the council. I inspected all the current signage yesterday and it is woefully inadequate and in contravention to minimum requirements. Ashbourne Grove appears to have become a race track with vehicles desperate to make up for lost time. It is only a matter of time before their is an accident and the risk of someone being injured or worse. I?m not sure this was something supporters of the scheme envisaged. If it carries on like this then we may see Ashbourne Grove residents blocking the end of the road to force vehicles to go back the way they came.
  10. Having given this further thought, to ensure the council achieves its objective and does not accidentally push traffic onto side roads from Melbourne Grove, they should consider a series of No Left Turn signs along Melbourne Grove. This will ensure all vehicles on Melbourne Grove have to stay on the road to reach Lordship Lane. This will help reduce traffic flows on side roads and also prevent vehicles where driver unaware of barrier, doing a U-Turn and using Ashbourne Grove instead.
  11. It is normal when doing this kind of exercise to monitor current traffic using side roads so that this data can then be compared to data if Melbourne Grove is shut. You have to install traffic monitors at both ends of side roads so that you can identify those vehicles that are visiting the side road. I have not seen any evidence since lockdown of any traffic monitoring in my road so I am unclear how the council expects to determine whether the plan is a success or failure. If traffic volumes increase in side roads then this would suggest any council objective has failed and Melbourne Grove be re-opened.

I live at busiest part of Lordship Lane and don?t agree. Last few weeks the place has been extremely quiet and people clearly respecting lockdown. Saturdays always busier with more people food shopping. This week high street felt a bit more like normal, albeit most people were queuing outside, waiting to get into shops.
  13. Our car was broken into last night - probably about 9pm. No sign of a break-in in terms of forced entry so guessing I accidentally unlocked car earlier when decorating out front and deciding to seek refuge in car on driveway as a family had decided to stop outside and play with their child - we are in isolation. Clearly someone chancing their luck trying door handles along the road plus driveways. So important you wipe clean car door handles at this time as you have no idea who has been their first. Will call police later in case they want to check for fingerprints. Culprit probably left DNA in car as there was a part eaten chocolate biscuit on the seat. They clearly know about breaking into cars as had accessed a secret compartment that I didn?t know existed after 15 years of owning the car. Only item so far that appears to have been stolen was prescription sunglasses so of little value if try?s to sell on, but for me costly to replace. They probably got a shock when opening two main compartments to discover so much stuff crammed into them. Must have taken a few minutes for them to empty contents and they had to turn on interior lights as well to see.
  14. Not food deliveries as such but the homeless charity ChangePlease which is based in Peckham is starting to do home deliveries of coffee, pastries and cakes today using their tiny coffee vans. So if you are missing youR daily fix, get in touch with them. They are covering a 3 mile radius from their training centre. Online order site is https://changeplease.slerp.com/
  15. Not much in the meat veg or fruit although quite a lot of ready meals. They had clearly been busy stocking as a lot of empty boxes around the store.
