Actually it isnt a 'rumour' thanks, my housemate showed me the bottle and i saw it for myself, it was clearly labelled as 'room fragrance' or something similar. You may remember that for a while it was very difficult to get hold of hand sanitiser on Lordship Lane yet this shop had a big sign outside advertising they were and the stuff on sale was as above.
  3. I doubt its from an aircraft- why would it be? They are still pretty high when they fly over you know, hardly like standing behind a car exhaust. If they were to do this as normal practice there would be far too many complaints from busybodies, so if there is any fuel to be dumped when there is an emergency they do it at sea.

Im happy to see that yuppie shop close down as it was pointless and an awful replacement for Surma. Hopefully something useful and affordable will take it place, such as a cheap off license or small KFC/fried chicken shop (since the one opposite closed earlier this year). The next place id like to see go is that health shop beside Hisar, i was warned by my housemate that during the lockdown and early stages of the pandemic they were selling room odourisers and saying they were hand sanistisers, charging ?5 for the privilege. Thats clearly a shop the community could do without.
  5. Women i find are happy to not go anywhere near the BBQ, for various reasons such as their hair will get smelly, and this is certainly how it should stay. No one bothers eating the salad or healthy stuff apart from the women, so they can take care of that aspect , and the men should just get on with cooking the meat and drinking cold beers. Washing up is also best handled by the woman.

I do not want your sob story, although its actually quite refreshing to hear of some real life woes here rather than the pathetic whingeing about middle class problems in a city with all manner of social issues and widespread deprivation. I do live locally, although im sure i've probably noticed you looking down your nose at me in M&S because im not lucky enough to be a millionaire when assets are taken into account, as most are around here. Ill just continue on fine and dandy remaining ruefully amused at posts such as yours, good luck with your utterly cringeworthy and pointless crusade to get CCTV installed (when it already is- how do think that tragic incident outside the corner shop last year got solved?) perhaps if you stamp your foot enough someone will take pity on you and pander to your demands.
  7. I only wore a mask once or twice (i no longer do because i value being able to do what i like) but found that when i went to cough, i'd always cough outside of the mask, to get rid of any germs. So even if i did wear a mask, it would be pointless as i wouldnt want to cough or sneeze inside of it.

No, not particularly. Its amazing how fanatical people get on here about the simplest most irrelevant thing- someone didnt clean up their dog poo- disgraceful! Someone nicked something from the local co-op- burn the witch! My bins didnt get emptied on time- scandalous! All whilst perched nicely in your ?1 million + fancy East Dulwich house, when a mile or so away other humans are living in poverty. I really hope you get your CCTV, so some feckless junkies can be sent to prison for a couple of months for nicking a sandwich, perhaps that will make the 'ED community' so much safer.
  9. monica Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dontbesilly are you ok??? Are you ok? You keep demanding the council spends money on something that is already there. Stop sensationalising a few people stealing some booze from the shops of Lordship Lane, we are in a borough with one of the highest knife crime rates in London- get a grip.

Are you deliberately being obtuse for some reason? Walk down Lordship Lane and take a proper look- there is CCTV clear as day at the end of long poles. Off the top of my head there is one opposite the Bishop outside that hippy charity shop. London is one of the most heavily covered CCTV cities in the world by far- do you think that Lordship Lane gets off with not having any cameras for the prevention of crime? Additionally, one of my previous posts explains Co-op's security arrangements, which includes CCTV.

BLM would do well to intervene/heal the murders that are happening in their community like the ones in the article (reposted below) as a starting point. Then perhaps Police will settle down a bit on the stop and search. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/08/02/murder-camberwell-south-london-neighbourhood-affluence-deprivation/
  13. Co-op on Lordship lane absolutely have CCTV, there is sporadic announcements advising that Mitie (an external security company) are constantly monitoring the system, and in addition there is 1 and sometimes 2 security guards in the shop. Can i just check why anyone would actually care if people nick a few bits from a major supermarket retailer? it has no effect on you whatsoever, why waste your time worrying about it? It must be nice not having to worry about money but some people do, and shoplifting (victimless crime) is a good way to make up for the lack of benefits and social help this country now provides for those down in doldrums.
  14. Got to agree with Jim- i never wear a mask and have had rows with people on Lordship Lane who have had the chutzpah to dare challenge me why (they soon learn not to again). There is literally no point in making everyone wear a mask, we might as well go back in lockdown and be done with it if half arsed measures such as this are introduced way after the damage is done. Do you really expect people to wear masks for the next 2 years? As that is how long it will be until a vaccine is widely available. At least with a second wave everyone is going to be better prepared for it as we have already gone through the motions earlier this year, and the more people who have herd immunity the better. Yes, we will loose some elderly, but as Jim rightly points out they are on the way out anyway and there is no point denying young people their lives and jobs just to protect his group from the inevitable .
  15. I think they may as well allow BBQ's on the common, but only if they provide proper bins for you to dispose of the hot coals. I have had to resort to pouring the residue down drains on the side of the road, lest a bin catch fire from pouring them in there. At least with beer cans etc, you know that if a few of those are left behind the council worker in the morning will clear up the strays, but with BBQ coals they will just burn the grass or melt the bins.
  16. I would expect an 84 year old to not understand the internet- but no fridge or freezer? Pull the other one. i get the point you are making, but theres no need to exaggerate to win sympathy. Luckily there seemed to be plenty of people to help out the vulnerable and needy during the worst of the crisis, including yourself it would seem with the aforementioned lady. It was nice to hear, although a friend of mine cheekily messaged the number on one of the help flyers that came through the door, saying he was self isolating and got a neighbour to do all his shopping for him, when he was 100% fit as a fiddle!
  17. Hardly doing it out of desperate poverty either, if their friend can afford an Audi.

Its not really a horrible situation though is it- just some teens enjoying each others company in the summer months. What did you do in the summer holidays when you were a child. Sit quietly indoors and only speak when spoken to? The proper council estates of Peckham and Brixton, i.e where the majority of residents are council housed rather than middle class people who bought it off the original owners after right to buy (like at Dawsons heights), have big parties with massive souundsystems and untold noise every time the sun comes out, the helicopters overhead are a sign of this. That would be a horrible situation. So stop sensationalising something so trivial and perhaps recognise that bored teenagers have every right to gather on public land and socialise, even if the curtain twitchers dont approve.
  19. During the actual lockdown of April, May and June- Rye Lane was completely lawless in regards to cars, businesses and the people who hang around there. There is a reason why there needs to be a constant traffic warden on that very small stretch of road because people will freely flaunt the rules the second he is gone, as was the case during the worst of the pandemic. At one point i was on a bus which was trying to get through, among all the cars parked wherever they pleased on the red route kerbs, were several shops that has expanded into the road itself- one with a huge crate of melons blocking the bus's path. Im afraid there is not much more that can improve that street- its utter choas and no one seems to give a damn, perhaps a massive regeneration of the whole area surrounding and including Rye Lane is necessary, to smarten it up a bit and drag it into the 21st century.

Scream as loudly as possible? Wow, you're quite the valiant do gooder. If you work in M&S or Co-op on Lordship Lane, can you please explain why none of the staff wear masks and never had during this entire pandemic? Masks make hardly any difference- our own government told us that long ago. It simply makes old/vulnerable people more reassured and confident (falsely) about leaving the house, and contributing to our economy through work or spending, like our government wants.

  22. the result was that the good people of Dulwich are going to loose a couple of Blackberry bushes (boo hoo!) and some shabby AstroTurf no one cares about (until now oddly enough), but will retain a local football club which has been on the site for over 100 years.
  23. They actually wasted time talking about blackberry bushes?! No wonder it went on so long. This was probably the result of 1 person trying to throw a spanner in the works, writing in crying to the council about a precious blackberry bush. what a shame this plan did not bear any fruit.
  24. Cant you just hide it in the skip? The company probably arent going to care about some dead old fox, so if they dont see it, it shouldnt be a problem.
