  1. ED is super dog friendly in my experience. All the pubs are dog friendly, as is Brunos and Drop wine bar, plus Oru and pretty much all the coffee shops. In terms of restaurants nearby(ish), Peckham Cellars and Kudu are both super welcoming to dogs. It's great to take your dog out with you for drinks/food as it really helps to socialise them, plus it really adds to the atmosphere in some places. Enjoy!
  2. The display on Lordship Lane is equally disappointing. The lights look like they have very much had their day. For such a busy shopping street, you would think that a little more effort would be made...
  3. Clearly the hundreds of people who queue outside it weekly...
  4. Chain stores or chain restaurants (Chipotle, Joe and the Juice, Wagamamas, etc.), the point remains that if the independent shops want to maintain their spot then they should take a look at those independents who have people queuing outside them daily and ask themselves where they're going wrong...
  5. Yes God forbid people should be able to cross the road safely.
  6. Erics is a good example of 'build it and they will come'. As we all know, there is no shortage of bakeries on Lordship Lane and the surrounding area, and yet still people queue for hours outside Erics on the two days a week it is open to get a croissant. Why? Because of the quality. I do not wish to see Lordship Lane overrun with chain stores, but I am afraid that is where we are headed unless independents up their game. Please take a leaf out of Erics' book - invest in what you are doing and offer something unique that is of quality. The same can be said of Toad bakery in Camberwell - queues out the door every weekend, with people travelling to sample the goods. I am not sure anyone could credibly argue the closure of Hissars is a great loss. It was an incredibly basic offering and the market has moved on. To be clear, I am not advocating for more expensive businesses on the lane - ideally there would be a variety of shops and businesses for all budgets. But independents need to have a good think about why people are going off the lane and out of their way to queue for hours at some independent businesses, while other independent businesses that should benefit from the footfall on Lordship Lane are going bust.
  7. Is anyone aware of any pharmacies / medical centres in the area that will give booster shots to under 40s at this stage? We otherwise meet the relevant criteria for a booster, but will be away for a few weeks from next week (i.e. from when I suspect they will roll out to under 40s), so was hoping to get a booster this week if possible...
  8. It seems that most of the objections to this planning application stem from the existing nursery next door, which seems to have managed to successfully galvanise the parents into posting objections. The irony of this is that most of the complaints put forward by the existing nursery could be said about it. I agree with those saying that it would be lovely if this space could be used for the community, but it has been purchased privately and therefore has about the same prospects of being used as a community space as the Marks and Spencers does. I suspect it may be a better use of peoples' time to encourage the council to impose conditions on the approval, requiring cycle lanes, improvements to the footpaths etc., rather than objecting to the proposal outright.
  9. We used A New Garden for our front, who were not the cheapest but did a very good job: https://www.anewgarden.com/
  10. So sorry to hear this. As the others suggest, definitely worthwhile trying to report it.
  11. Really great to hear that something might finally be done about traffic on Matham Grove and Zenoria/Oxonian Street. I agree whole heartedly with everyone saying that there are issues with EDG, particularly the junction with LL, that need resolving and should be resolved, but at present Matham Grove and Zenoria, which are narrow residential streets, are taking a disproportionate level of traffic for streets of their size.
  12. If the lack of social distancing in this restaurant is not enough to put you off, their basic hygene levels should be. For years now the residents on Matham Grove have had to put up with Mensaab dumping waste onto Matham Grove, at times whole animal parts have been thrown onto the footpath of Matham Grove at the side of the restaurant (where their kitchen door is), and I understand the council has had to intervene a number of times. Their kitchen door is left open most of the time with waste and rubbish sitting right outside it and if you saw the kitchen you would probably not eat there...
