  1. To Let sign has gone onto the boarded up front and builders were in there on Monday stripping out the work that has been done. I saw inside and it looked to me like it wasn?t far off finished. The menu on the website looks great so I was looking forward to it opening. But guessing they?ve decided not to open in ED. Anyone know more? Still says ?opening soon? on the website.
  2. Thank you @peckhamnicola - all of the ones I looked at, e.g. Paragon?s, were 18+. The YBS 1 year fix cash isa will be perfect for her.
  3. Does anyone know of anywhere local-ish that I can get a very large cushion re-stuffed?
  4. I am struggling to find a savings account or ISA for my 16 year old. She isn?t eligible for a junior ISA. I can?t find a cash ISA you can open before 18. The kids? savers accounts all seem to stop when they turn 16. She already has a current account and we don?t want to change it. Any ideas?

  6. Does anyone have an update on where tests can currently be picked up? I'll wander down to Grove Vale library tomorrow but it's quite a schlep so if anyone knows the latest, much appreciated. Thanks.
  7. JAGS SC > Price - JAGS SC is ?51/month according to their site and there are discounts for single parent families, NHS staff and teachers and others. I pay ?39/mth for EA - which is full adult rate, no concession. I used to be at JAGS SC but switched to EA because I now work in Victoria and want to use The Queen Mum (which is EA). When I was entirely ED based, JAGS SC was far better value for me than EA based on access availability and the quality of facilities (well, the pool, which was all I ever used). Even before the pandemic, there wasn't that much lane space at Dulwich - it's a small pool. > Times - JAGS SC is only closed during school hours. It's generally open from 6:30am until school starts and from about 4:30/5pm onwards. The gym opens slightly later than the pool, e.g. 5:30. The club is open all day at the weekends and during school holidays. When the pool is closed at weekends it's because they are running galas for local swimming clubs. Dulwich Dolphins and Leander SC train there a lot and run galas there and I've supported very many galas there for other clubs too. Various triathlon clubs also train in that pool. Clearly, it's no good to you if you want to swim during school hours, but otherwise I think most would find the times convenient. The site is here https://jagssportsclub.co.uk DULWICH COLLEGE Also runs a sports club open to the public. Adult membership is ?42 and like JAGS SC there are concessions available. They, and Dulwich Prep, also support a lot of clubs including many of the above and several others with lane space. As far as I know, opening hours are similar to JAGS SC. The site is here https://www.dcsportsclub.co.uk so you could have a look if interested. ALLEYN's Does not, and cannot run a sports club like JAGS and DC. It's just not set-up for it. Outside of school hours the pool is extensively used by various clubs such as Tigersharks, Brockwell Swimmers, St James's and Dulwich Dolphins, who all use the pool for training and galas. However, there is no further capacity at that pool outside of what is already being used by external groups. DULWICH LEISURE CENTRE The slots go as soon as they open up, but if you have a look a couple of hours before you want to go, you'll usually find they've opened up again as people do cancel. E.g. looking right now there's space for the 5pm lane swim, which was full previously. If you book and you don't cancel you do get an email reprimand - or in my case, if you turn up without your card and they let you in manually, you still get a no show reprimand even though they checked your name off to let you in! I believe they have been dealing with repeat offenders. When I use Dulwich it's always the case that of the 30 spaces offered there's not more than 15-20 swimmers in the water, so you could also try just showing up. I've not tried this at Dulwich, but I have done it at The Queen Mum and they've been fine to let me in although I had to wait 10 mins. OTHER EA It is a bit easier to get slots at Camberwell, Peckham (much easier) and The Castle Centre (Elephant & Castle). All a short cycle / bus ride away. CLUBS As stated above, very many clubs use the pools at JAGS, DC and Alleyn's. If you do want to swim regularly you could try joining one. Tigersharks (all levels catered for, both adults and families) or St James' (parents and kids) Brockwell swimmers (adults - all strokes, bit of everything, all levels but not complete beginners, I think) or Streamline Swims (adults, more focussed on triathlon and swim fitness, I think). All worth checking out. http://www.tigersharksswimmingclub.co.uk https://sjsc.org.uk https://www.brockwellswimmers.com http://www.streamlineswims.com I hope this is useful information.
  8. Yesterday received a Christmas card posted from Lewisham mid-December. And both this week's The Week, and last week's The Week.
  9. If you've retraced your steps but only looked down, thinking he'd be on the floor, worth going back again and looking on fences, on top of walls and bins etc as quite often round here people will see something like this on the floor and put it on a nearby fence wall etc. Apologies if you've already checked all that. I really hope you find him.
  10. Let me know if you think it?s yours
  11. On Bawdale / Fellbrigg there's a sound rather like that made when you blow across the top of a beer bottle. Comes and goes. At first I thought it was just a progression of my tinnitus, but I can't hear it with ear plugs in, so it is definitely a real noise. No idea what it is. It's very irritating.

So whilst good it's > hard to get in. Good? Standard telephone appointment minimum 2 weeks away. The appointment is then for a morning or afternoon call. It seems that can?t narrow it down further. Letter from consultant at King?s to GP asking them to write a repeat prescription, dated 28 September. Get a text from surgery asking me to make a standard telephone appointment with the GP on 14 Oct. Manage to secure said appointment for an afternoon call on 29th Oct. GP in question calls up and inquires how they can help. Details explained. No knowledge of letter admitted. Letter found in records. Prescription being ?sent right now?. Following day chemist says prescription hasn?t been sent through. Check back Monday with pharmacy, prescription still hasn?t been sent through. Ring the gardens and luckily missed out on the receptionist we refer to in our house as ?Mrs No?. After explaining the situation receptionist speaks to Dr and comes back to me to say the prescription will be sent over straight away. Prescription asked for by email by King?s consultant on 28 September finally available to be collected 2 November. So if that sounds ?good? then, yeah. Good.

  15. I have searched the Southwark site and this thread and I cannot find the data and collection details supporting the decreased traffic counts, increase in cycling and reductions of pollution the council claims are the effect of the LTNs. Would someone share the direct links to the relevant report/data?

Very strange. Are other distances ?wrong? on Google maps for you? Try measuring the length of the lido and see if it says 50m.
  17. To what looks like the Charter ED gate on Jarvis Rd. I?m measuring to Bawdale.
  18. Are you converting miles to meters correctly? I get a difference of a few meters between what I'm measuring on Google maps and what the site says (643m vs 650m).
  19. Beckenham Spa Cindy?s swim school Possibly tigersharks They don?t really do lessons at 2 - just a bit of getting used to the water and splashing about, which you could do yourself at any family session if you are able to get in the water. If not, is there a suitable friend or relative who could be persuaded?
  20. They say somewhere in the documentation that they use specialist software. Google maps is very accurate though - I?ve just measured Brockwell Lido at 50.02m and I think the extra 2cm is probably my sloppy pin positioning.
  21. Not sure if under new(ish) management? or a perhaps a new chef? - but Memsaab has properly upped its game. Last 4 or 5 orders from there have been really very, very good. Everything just seems fresher, with more distinctive flavours. Little garnishes have started to appear - e.g. the sprinkle of fresh coriander on tonight's Bombay aloo and the small round of (I think, and perhaps incongruously) preserved lemon with the chana masala. Someone is definitely giving it a bit of extra love in that kitchen. Delicious!
