  1. Hi, can anyone recommend a salon that will dye my daughter's hair back to her normal shade after a home dye disaster? It seems most want them to be 16 - she's 13.
  2. looks like you can get them everywhere apart from sainsbury's then! thanks.
  3. Thanks. My kids are in double figures, but if I do locate any, I'll be sure to have a bucket of water nearby just in case. Advice aside, does anyone know where I can buy any?!
  4. Can anyone tell me of any shops that sell fireworks? I don't want anything fancy - just a few sparklers and maybe a Catherine Wheel or two. Sainsbury's have stopped selling them.
  5. Hi, I'm considering switching to iD mobile - it works off the Three network. Does anyone use iD? Do you have good coverage in the ED area? (The network map I'm looking at suggests there might be areas where it isn't so good.)
  6. Crickey, so it goes right up to the wire! Well, I'll wait and see in that case ... thanks!
  7. Hi, anecdotally, is anybody able to say what sorts of numbers get in to kingsdale on the scholarship waiting list? We're number 50 something ... is it ridiculous to think we might still get a place?! Realise it's anything but an exact science.
  8. Hi, I'm looking to extend my Victorian kitchen. I've seen some recommendations for PlusRooms on this forum ... can anyone suggest any others, or recommend an architect? Not really sure where to start. Thanks!
  9. Brilliant service from this team - answer texts very quickly, arrive on time and work efficiently. Had a couple of fiddly jobs to do and they were great.
  10. Hi, I need someone to remove wallpaper from one wall of a bedroom, re-line it, and paint. I'm in Nunhead. Please PM me if you are interested.
  11. I'm looking for someone to lay a load of chipboard in my loft space - it's not for living in, it's for storage. It's about 30 square metres. If you can fit a strip light too that'd be nice (there's power up there already). Please PM me if this is your thing. Thanks.
  12. We can't praise Nick Follett of Abbey Restoration enough (M: 07966285679). We had trouble with our gutters and he came out within a day and was actually up on our roof fixing it before we knew he'd arrived. He cleared the blockage, which had been causing huge problems, quickly and cheaply. We gave him the job of repairing our back roof and chimney, which another company had told us we would need scaffolding for. Nick said nonsense and fixed it all by ladder. And Eddie, Abbey's carpenter, made a great job of putting in new oak worktops in our kitchen, with a perfect join and no wobble. He also fixed proper inset bolts and ball catches onto the (warped) retractable double doors in our living room arch, making them straight for the first time in seven years - not a job we thought could be done successfully. Both efficient, polite, reliable workers operating to a very high standard. Strongly recommended.
  13. Can anyone recommend or suggest someone who can fix unbelievably creaky stairs in a Victorian house please?!
  14. Hi, following Trevor's recommendation I gave Gary a call last week. He did a great job stripping some wallpaper for me. He's efficient, tidy and good company - thoroughly recommend him.
  15. Looking for someone to fit a dual fuel oven - ideally this weekend. Any suggestions/recommendations? The gas/electricity is all there, just needs connecting up.
  16. hi, need an electrician to wire in a new cooker at the weekend. any recommendations? small job, obviously. pm me if you are one, or know one. thanks.
  17. Hi, I'm a pretty good swimmer (I'm an adult), but I'd like to perfect the front crawl and learn how to do tumble turns. Is there a swimming teacher out there who would take me for a few sessions? Can do Dulwich Leisure Centre or Peckkham Pulse. PM me if you are a teacher, or if you know of one please. Thanks.
  18. hi, i'm thinking about upgrading to a bee - is anybody able to tell me the following: 1. if you use a lascal mini buggy board, does it still fold up ok? 2. do you need to mess about with car seat adapters ever time you attach the car seat to it, or can they stay in place? any info gratefully received!
  19. there's a good book in the library by dr richard ferber - how to solve your child's sleep problems. not that your child has a problem, but this book goes through all the difference sleep phases/patterns that babies/toddlers go through as they grow older. chances are she's just growing up a bit.
  20. thanks so much - i'll move it and see if it looks happier. ta!
  21. garden man - any advice? the leaves are falling off our magnolia grandliflora - they turn yellow then fall off from the bottom. it's only 8 ft fall or so, so only a few years old. is this normal? or could it be because we put it in a bigger pot and moved it to a slightly less sheltered position.
