  1. There's been a spate of phone snatching around East Dulwich station and along Lordship Lane. But don't let that put you off the area, these things come and go. I've never had an issue late at night in the areas you talk about and I've been around here for 18yrs (before I moved I had the same concerns as you). Go visit your areas late at night at different times for your own peace of mind (I did)
  2. leave the window alone and put in some "secondary glazing" For sound proofing, you need as big an air gap as you can muster (in this image they should have used the whole windowsill) if you try your own DIY screen (with perspex & wood) you must seal it as far away from the window as you can and add baffles round the perimeter inside (eg. egg cartons) (or other sound proofing materials are availble online). The air gap is your baffle (buffer). Cheaper than replacing the window.
  3. Vispring, I'm not a poet so I don't have enough vocabulary to gush about it, best money I ever spent. Open your wallet, they say you spend a third of your life rafting on it (probably more these days with Netflix).
  4. caught him (it's his wife's dog)
  5. How did the triangulation eventually happen?
  6. Keep the phone charged and the owner might eventually locate you if you leave a note on your door ("I found your phone") else they might think it's where the thief lives....
  7. "He told the BBC he felt a little bit betrayed and confused over what to do next, with 12 months remaining on their current mortgage. The couple are planning to remove the insulation themselves, having been quoted £4,000." Plastic scraper & some bin bags, job done "Robbie, 38 had spray foam fitted in 2021 with the entire £5,733 cost covered by the Green Homes Grant scheme" Camera pans back to the couple with tears rolling.....
  8. you don't need to worry because you're not doing anything illegal, innit
  9. Is it a very Clean sound like a Hone (ie. not like a drill or a squirrel) and most importantly "always always always" exactly the same sound, and not a Hoooo but a HewwWWWwne (it's keeping me awake), and it's random
  10. aa.net.uk they know every service available on Copper/Fibre and they know how to deal with BT/OpenReach any time there's issues. My parents had problems for years on their ADSL in Lewes different ISPs (including BT) A&A fixed it in a few days
  11. Running from the scene........
  12. False plates. Runs away from the scene because he can't wait to scam another brand new car off Cahoot (or suchlike)
  13. Lots of useful advice... if it were to happen to me I'd stand there and give them the silent treatment. Take video and walk around unphased, they'll eventually go away.... Even if you have to wait all day it's better than the followup scenarios..... That way you haven't left the scene of the "accident" (you video them riding off) Are they going to be able to sue you personally - No (litigation applies common sense) Will they contact the police - No Therefore no need for you to contact your own insurance company (because of some jokers jumping around). Go home and sleep soundly. Afterwards send photos of the incident to the police. (waiting for them to "leave" doesn't work if you're trying to collect your child from school etc)
  14. revenge of the cat litter..... pow pow pow! (smash them into subatomic particles) yay!
  15. a nice crowd and busier than it used to be
  16. I have 8x of the cheapest feather pillows (which I arrange round my head at night) and it's surprising how much they block out (not practical in the summer though) - also calms the nerves when you feel like you're loosing control. I've also considered creating a sound proof "shed" in the living room. Unfortunately I think only flats with concrete floors/walls have a decent level of soundproofing. I'm no expert but person to person litigation in this country is not the same as USA
  17. bio cellophane, the whole thing can be composted. Sounds like that's where alot of them will be going....
  18. For your peace of mind, the local authority has each tree registered on a plan. They make a risk assessment and it's their decision where public safety is concerned. It doesn't mean it's going to fall down soon, but you'll see they replace trees that they take out (eventually)
  19. Fireworks
  20. something about this double posting is odd...
