That doesn?t make it ok. There are connotations. You don?t get Sinn Fein referring to all English parties off the cuff as ?the military occupiers? Or maybe they do.
  2. And there?s no bastard beach on The Strand either. People come here on holiday promised circuses (one of them even suggest that there may be gherkins for the having) and beaches when in reality all you can get on a stroll between the Strand and Oxford Circus is sued, tickets to musical theatre, Chinese food, butplugs and comedy jesters hats. (in that order) You?d have to go to Peckham for oval plates.
  3. Apologies for sounding patronising earlier. I just think people should reserve judgement for now. Regarding your point though, at this juncture without actually having been there do we know how much bargaining power Clegg had and why he had to compromise on what he did and to what aim?
  4. Doesn?t New Zealand run on the Westminster System but has recently adopted PR? Considering they manage to take most things started in Britain and then do them better it may be a good place to look.
  5. Well they wouldn?t have got anything without it or from a Labour deal.
  6. http://www.globalgallery.com/prod_images/600/adl-vg200294.jpg See what I mean. Fucking nuts the lot of them.
  7. Dutch! Dutch! Probably half cut on hydroponic prostitutes and contemplating a dyke. Stone bonkers to the man the Dutch are.
  8. For future reference (please everyone reading this take note for future reference) it is van Gogh. Note that the surname prefix van is not capitalised. This is true for all surnames with this prefix in all Germanic languages. Thank you.
  9. Casting aspersions of that sort upon comrade Jenny, particularly considering her good and just praise for the honourable comrades Harriet and Tessa, is counter revolutionary dissidence only spoken by those who are enemies of the Party and/or may also enjoy sodomy. Apparently.
  10. I didn?t notice that at first. WTF ?
  11. Keef for someone who is so involved in politics your pal?s letter displays an amazing lack of insight into the situation. This hasn?t been a LibDem formed government that has pandered to conservative policies. After Labours abysmal rule we were heading for a conservative government either way. What the LibDems have managed to do is use what influence they have to at least have a part in that government, push some of their policy through and stem some of what the conservatives would have done. It does not mean that they support some of the mean spirited filth that the tories want to do but that they have compromised on it to get the best out of a bad situation.
  12. Like a record baby
  13. I can sympathise with tomk?s position but I think those arguments would only hold up if the Labour party were a viable option, an actual liberal opposition to a right wing conservative government and not just an ideologically vacuous vote winning machine with autocratic leadership completely out of touch with the realities of modern society and reliant only on traditional allegiance for the core support it has.
  14. Yep, just got it this morning. It?s got me all of a flutter. I feel like a kid in sweet shop. Can I have, Anna Alison Head On Planet of Sound Oh My Golly Gouge Away Monkey Gone to Heaven Wave of Mutilation (both versions) Here comes your man Velouria Dig for Fire Subbacultcha U-Mass Ermm, erm, erm All the rest as well please.
  15. For the sake of common sense and the good of the country I sincerely hope you are wrong on all those counts. I?m sure the city?s propaganda machines are already starting to grind into action. It should be similar to the protests a while ago. You here the employees speaking about whichever truth they are currently being sold a few hours before it breaks as a news story somewhere.
  16. Right next to Jennifer?s silver christening mug and bronzed baby slipper.
  17. Yeah but only the Queen is allowed goose on rye. I here it?s nice with mustard.
  18. Fuck, school is unpleasant enough as it is without having to deal with that sort of crap.
  19. ruffers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Kind of on topic (er... ish) it causes me mild > irritation that you don't get fields being burned > off any more in the autumn, that used to be > great. > > Why did it stop? It?s got something to do with intensive crop rotation and not allowing stubble fields to dry out. Anyway I think that?s what they were getting at in a programme I saw about how the lack of stubble fields in the countryside is effecting birdlife but I could be completely wrong. While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day And touch the stubble plains with rosy hue
  20. We shall see. I think there is a lot of old school malevolence in the tory party that would like to see this fail and Cameron will have to stand up against if indeed he has the genuine will to make this work and he?s not just playing games. I think Clegg will face similar from some sections of the LibDems but not to the same extent. If this works it will be testament to both their leadership capabilities.
  21. I don?t particularly like mile upon mile of rape seed either. Just pointing out that it not being nice is a more valid argument against it than it not being native. Nice is important. Alas apparently not as important as oil and money to some people. Specifically farmers who are just businessmen when you get right down to it. Normally, and by necessity, pretty dam hard nosed businessmen at that. France has turned all yellow in latter years too.
  22. It really is awful that these people have suffered so. Shame on us! Shame on all of us for allowing this to happen.
  23. And just like that we're back on politics.
  24. I hate to point out the obvious but wheat, oats, barley, potatoes etc aren?t native either. All it?s done is turn bits of the countryside yellow. So I suppose it depends on where you stand on yellow.
