Presumably Social services or similar will turn up at the right house/flat and wonder why no keysafe. And then contact the contractor. Who will swear blind they went to the right house. Or something along these lines.

This is most likely explanation but it might be a private individual whose contractor wrote wrong postcode. Forced analogy. I nearly booked a hair appointment "on behalf of " my wife. Gave her phone number Indeed, we get post for a house with same number, one letter different . Bank account numbers I believe have check digits . Postcodes don't.

I think your ISP has jumped the gun - told you about a change that isn't quite here. I agree with suggestion of https://www.aa.net.uk/ - i have been with them since ADSL was invented and found them helpful. -
