  2. I thought this was something to do with the Times Literary Supplement :)
  3. Somewhere I have read that Boris is planning large increases in fares to fund his eradication of bendy buses. Can anyone point to more info on this, and do people fell he is justified in doing this.

Traffic wardens are there to enforce the rules, not to make judgements about whether something is dangerous. If you park somewhere you are not supposed to park then it is an "inappropriate place". Of course I agree there are many instances where they tickets placest that are not against the rules.
  5. I nearly missed this one so I think it deserves a bump
  6. I have slightly mixed feelings about this - before the Drawing Room was formed it was clear to me that there needed to be some seperation between the extremes of the Peckham Fire thread and the trivia such as song game and word association (both types of thread are valid but they didn't sit well together). - I felt the Drawing Room was a good idea when it started - I havent felt the confidence to start new threads on it (not sure my topics are serious enough!) - Keef's suggestion of leaving most of the lounge alone but removing the trivia threads to a "super lounge" (have I paraphrased this correctly) may have been a way forward. My feeling is we should continue with the Drawing Room now it is here. But perhaps lighten the concept of seriousness a bit and see how that goes. (edited for clarity and typos)
  7. Bike seems the best option, (but I am not energetic enough to cycle to Kings X). Travelcard v. rail season ticket - I think it depends how much you are going to travel on journey in Z12 (other trains + tube) + any buses. If you have a travelcard then all bus journeys are free. Occassionally I have bought rail tickets and found I wanted to use tube or a bus. If you decide on a travelcard I would suggest getting an Oyster - probably easiest from a newsagent. An Oyster travelcard is valid on all Z12 rail routes. If you take a tube to say Z3 then it deducts the extra from prepay on the card. So you don't have to think about buying a ticket.
  8. half-length ( as in Master of the female half-length)
  9. James Thanks for posting the various ideas - I can see that there is not an easy solution. Can I throw another issue into the hat (or maybe restate it if it has already been mentioned). Is there any way in which cars travelling South and turning R into ED Grove can be forced to slow down. I was crossing the ED Grove walking southwards and a car skirted round and almost hit me from behind.

I think I would agree with this. Release should be conditional rather than absolute - if they turn out not to be as sick as previously thought then they should return. This is of course going to be harder to implement in the case of foreign prisoners such as the libyan jailed for the Lockerbee case.
  11. I was rather suprised to find that heat was coming from the radiator behind my seat in main room. I asked a staff member and was told that if they turned it off they would not have any hot water. So get that changed. So if Foxtons are the number one on the "Green blacklist" for leaving their lights on, I would like to nominate the Clock House as number 2 for having heating on in August.
  12. That may well have been true in 2007 but nothing much has happened for ages. Anna and many other people (including me) would be interested in what is hapenning in 2009.
