Hi, oglander , Congratulations on your soon-to-arrive little lion - how exciting! It's always lovely to hear someone taking the adoption route (shelters are having a major crisis at the moment!). I've been in business for 15 years & can say with certainty that most cat owners in Dulwich have catflaps so, not only are they easy to have installed, but you shouldn't find yourself short of helping hands on these local forums. A catflap is a brilliant way to keep your little lion safely in overnight as well as generally keeping track of their comings & goings. I'd be happy to walk you through the set up once you've chosen your model (SureFlap & PetSafe are two popular brands). I'm sure the rescue has already advised, but just in case they haven't, it'll be very important to keep your newly adopted cat housebound for the first 2 weeks to familiarise themselves with their new home. Once they've scent-mapped the house, you can gradually begin letting them out to explore & scent-map the garden. Exciting times! x

This is incredibly tragic... My heart breaks for this family... Luckily, everyone was able to make it out safely. ⚠️ They have a cat that has managed to escape & they are desperately searching for her. Queenie is microchipped. 8 years old. Black & White. ScreenRecording_10-17-2025 16-49-27_1.mov This is the only image that has been made available to us so far. I just hope she managed to escape unscathed. She's going to be shaken up.

Good Afternoon, I'm so sorry to hear Indigo hasn't returned home. Have you had any sightings yet, & is she microchipped? Our team carry scanners on our daily routes & will be keeping a look out for her. In the meantime, notify your street & surrounding area (many have Whatsapp groups following the pandemic) Dox will print & deliver 50 free missing posters https://www.doxdirect.com/help/free-missing-pet-posters/ & Do try calling out for her at dusk & dawn when street & foot traffic is at its lowest. Often times, when it comes to unusual disappearances, it's neighbouring renovations, general construction work or fireworks that can spook our little lions into hiding. They can end up finding themselves in unfamiliar places. I hope you are reunited with Indigo soon. Twb x

Dog Walker hits dog in her care
TWB Cat Sitter replied to Barbra2012's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thank you for not turning a blind eye & calling this out. No dog should ever be handled this way & it's extremely troubling to hear that this is happening in a public park, because if they feel so comfortable mistreating animals where they are on full display, who knows what they are capable of behind closed doors. Any form of physical punishment or intimidation is not only cruel but also counterproductive when working with animals, as it'll only increase fear & reactivity rather than build any trust. A professional dog walker or pet sitter will always use positive reinforcement & fear-free techniques, especially when responsible for a group of dogs. For this reason, I would always advise guardians to check that their dog walkers & cat sitters are qualified & insured. This person clearly has no idea what they are doing, & I hope they can be identified to prevent this from happening again. -

BAD ADVICE FROM HOLLAND & BARRETT
TWB Cat Sitter replied to i*Rate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If the product states that it's not suitable for anyone under the age of 18 on the package, were you not given a warning by the brand itself? Why would any advice provided by H&B assistants override that? -

I can confirm people are feeding foxes locally, & all across London. The problem isn't so much whether they're being fed, but rather what they're being given. Unfortunately, a lot of the food offerings aren't suitable for foxes, which is why we see the kind of unpleasant evidence left behind. In many cases, people are feeding not to encourage foxes, but to treat foxes for mange. Left untreated, mange is fatal, & it would be cruel to leave any animal suffering. The treatment is often provided freely by both large & local rescues like the National Fox Welfare Society, The Fox Project, The Fox Angels Foundation.... & is backed by the RSPCA in what is known as target feeding, in a compassionate effort to administer life-saving medications. In other cases, it's an effort to lure & totally relocate the fox(es) to a safer environment. If you are having serious issues with foxes (outside the realm of them simply existing) you can contact Fox-A-Gon (Non-lethal fox control). "Foxes are protected under a series of wildlife protection laws. Poisoning, gassing, asphyxiating, maiming, stabbing, impaling, drowning, clubbing & most forms of snaring are a criminal offense, with anyone carrying out such acts subject to 6 months imprisonment and/or a £5,000 fine per animal."

Hi, Aqsa! I'm so happy to hear you've been reunited with Nido. It sounds like your intentions were to keep Nido housebound for the first few weeks of settling in, which is exactly what you should do. Transitioning from one space to another can be very unsettling for felines, especially given their hardwired territorial nature. But I would also recommend setting up a quiet, enclosed space with all of Nido's essentials & scent-soaked comforts. This would include food, water, litterbox (these 3 items spaced apart) + bedding, toys & scratching posts or boards. This safe space comes in particularly handy when you have visitors (specially strangers) coming & going, & leaving doors open like the contractors did. Monitoring & gradually allowing him to explore the rest of the home once he's showing signs of comfort & curiosity helps to prevent him from feeling overwhelmed. Enrichment plays such an important role in mental, physical & emotional wellbeing, so if you can provide 2 x 15 minute intervals of play per day, this will not only build up his confidence, but will naturally transfer the pheromones required to establish his territory. It's all about scent mapping in the early stages of a house move with a cat. Twb x

I hate to see trees cut down to such an unfinished state. Unless the tree is home to wildlife, an effort should be made to remove & replace. Otherwise, it's just so useless & unsightly.

Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/ In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
