  1. "I?d have thought most key workers at the end of a gruelling day are unlikely to want a long journey home" Watching my neighbour starting their usual 12 mile cycle ride to work as a hospital anaesthetist - they say the ride home is very useful for decompression - especially as the nights are getting lighter and there are less half blind motorists out and about

  3. The gas lot (sorry I think I mean something gas networks) have wanted to do this since 2011. Apparently has now become urgent. And the gas lot seem to want to send cyclists the same way they are sending all the other traffic possibly resulting in cyclists getting squashed as they make the turn under the bridge on Copeland Road - and that is apart from the right-hand or left-hand turn back onto the main drag to get back onto the canal path.
  4. concerning the post that says "Paul Lupton Wrote: The sooner vehicles can use the bridge again the better - Bellenden is overrun with traffic " Say after me 100 times "Roads create traffic" e.g https://bettertransport.org.uk/roads-nowhere/induced-traffic
  5. This may be a daft idea but do either of your neighbours have a coal fire? Sometimes when people put in wood-burning stoves or fireplaces they forget to check the chimney and builders, especially amateurs, working on party walls sometimes damage chimney breasts when doing other work as these are often only one brick thick. So before you put a fireplace in you have to make sure the chimney is proper with a smoke test and if smoke comes out in the wrong places i.e. your neighbours upstairs fireplace whether it has been removed or not, then it's time to put in a sleeve in the chimney - if you do not do this, you fill your neighbours house with smoke the first time you light a fire. The same goes with rows of terraces with a shared loft where one broken chimney flue can send smoke into however many houses there are in the terrace
  6. Southwark is working on this ......and Ofo providing dockless bikes responsibly I hope see https://lcc.org.uk/pages/dockless-bike-hubs and https://www.ofo.com/uk/en/for-cities
  7. The contractors working on the cafe area left a narrow path between the old containder site/ back of Tuesday Club etc - just one bike / person wide - giving access to the new car park and thence the path up to Cheltenham / Peckham Rye East without going all the way up Strakers and up the Peckham Rye East race track hill This week they have put in a new set of huts with fencing and narrowed it even more and blocked what was effectively a dropped kerb at the car park end leaving a leaf covered drop off the path to the roadway Which caused me to fall of my bike today. Why have the builders been allowed to do this? Anyway I'm going to have to cycle though the park (as opposed to common) now

  10. Double roundabout !!! Have you ever tried to negotiate a double roundabout on a bicycle with motorised tin boxes trying to knock you over as if in a game of skittles?
  11. Yeah - my grandad fought in the Crimean war - RSM 5th Royal Huzzars - horse trainer for a short while at those stables
  12. Indeed Muley - and it has messed up the connection between the cycle route that crosses from Friern Road and passes in front of the cafe - I used to be able to cycle accross the car park snd from there join the other cycle route up to the junction of Peckham Rye East and Holmstall Road Now the options are to go along the narow path behind the One o'clock club or cut up through the park and use the Woodland Walk
  13. And is this a temporary issue caused by all the fencing between the car park and the cafe or a projected longer term issue? Surely there will be a shorter path to the cafe once the work is done?
