  1. Haven’t got the heart to tear out this little tree - 10 inches tall at present. However it can’t stay in my tiny garden. Anyone want it? Free to collect.
  2. Tyler is a member of the Federation of Master Builders and a very straightforward and personable builder. 'Anything to do with cement' is how he described his remit, so landscaping, paving, building, repointing. He did a repointing job for us and sealed a new aco drain. A small job but very well executed. Would definitely use his company again. His details are: 07582483455, [email protected].
  3. Hello, I need a french drain dug at the front of our house. Need experienced person who has done this before please. Look forward to hearing from you if you have had this done well by someone you would recommend or have done this yourself. Thanks.
  4. We have two secondary glazed windows whose sashes no long hold the windows up. Looking for repairer. Any recommendations please?
  5. Hi, our exterior windowsill in Victorian house has lost a chunk of stone and we're looking for someone to repair it (we have the chunks of stone) and paint the sills and surround. It's first floor, next to and accessible from entrance steps. Can you recommend anyone? Thanks.
  6. Hi fellow locals Is there an electrical goods mending clinic in ED? I have a hammer drill battery that won't charge, have tried doing a quick battery to battery charge to get it going for a longer proper charge - to no avail - but youtube tells me it may be a popped safety cap on one of the batteries inside. Easy to fix, but not for someone unversed in things electrical. I hate to junk a good drill for the sake of a tiny fix. I think I've seen an electrical mending event mentioned on the forum before? Any info please? Thanks.
  7. Here's a list of all the musicians who'll be playing in Dulwich Square, 1a Calton Avenue, Dulwich Village this August. It's free and is sponsored by Southwark Council. 14 Aug from 12 noon Sarah Moule ? Jazz Singer Featuring singer Sarah Moule, pianist/composer/arranger Simon Wallace and bassist Steve Watts. They play songs by the late great American lyricist Fran Landesman and Simon Wallace from Sarah?s new album Stormy Emotions plus a mix of classic Duke Ellington and jazz standards. https://sarahmoule.net/ https://sarahmoule.net/videos/ https://facebook.com/SarahMouleMusic 21 Aug from 12 noon Peter Black ? Virtuoso Guitarist Peter began playing the guitar aged six, leading to a professional diploma in Classical Guitar performance from the Royal Schools of Music. Peter studied Flamenco in Andaluc?a and Latin guitar with working musicians from Rio De Janeiro. He also has a long history of performing in Rock bands and ensembles of various descriptions. He is described as a Virtuoso Guitarist because he combines the technical qualities and emotion of classical performance with the feeling, groove and accessibility of popular styles. http://peteblackguitar.co.uk/ 21 Aug from 1 pm ish Calton String Quintet Calton String Quintet combines Royal Academy qualified musicians with high-end amateurs. Though a String Quintet, they primarily play arrangements from the world of dance, by composers covering a 250 year span and most of the world. Though many of our event performers live nearby, they break the closeness record by performing in the same road they rehearse in. 28 Aug from 12 noon Mazaika Gypsy Duo The Mazaika Duo is a perfect, yet totally unconventional marriage of violin, accordion and voice, with performances full of fun, excitement and virtuosity, with emotional depth and musical subtlety. Their twinkling humour, rapport with the audience and with each other gives the audience an intoxicating experience which they will not easily forget. Mazaika can take you on a troika into the heart of Russia, where you will experience the joy and sorrow of Russian folk and Gypsy songs and the fiery passion of the gypsy violin. http://www.mazaika-music.com/ 28 Aug from 1 pm ish Trombone Jerome and the Homies Born in Brooklyn, New York - Jerome grew up in Kingsville, Texas and currently lives and works in London as a session musician as well as with his own bands The Homies and Brassroots - who have performed at Scala King?s Cross, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Festibelly and Bestival. In the decade that has followed they have firmly established themselves as two of the country's premier and funkiest Jazz Brass Bands. Jerome himself is one of the most sought after Trombone Scientists. https://www.brassroots.co.uk/
  8. Hi, I'm a jazz singer living in East Dulwich and am doing a couple of sets of songs this Saturday lunchtime, 12-2 in 'Dulwich Square' at the junction of Calton Avenue and Court Lane in Dulwich Village together with two other ED residents, the brilliant bassist Steve Watts and pianist Simon Wallace . It's free!
  9. We've been going to Dulwich Test Centre just off the Rye end of Barry Road for years. Paul and Reg, two brothers, run it. Dependable and honest.
  10. Hello Fellow East Dulwich Residents I'm a singer and am starting a Singing Warm Up Group on Zoom. It's for anyone who wants to do some light singing and keep their voice in shape, or get their voice in better shape, and work on their breathing and tuning. It entails meeting once or twice a week on Zoom to sing through some vocal warm up exercises to backing tracks (ie Stevie Wonder). Everyone is muted while doing the exercises but there's a short Q&A at the end to discuss any questions or difficulties anyone is having. No one hears anyone else! Everyone welcome. Get in touch if you'd like to give it a try. It's free and takes no longer than 30 mins. Look forward to hearing from anyone interested! Sarah
  11. Hi Saria Are you still looking for a singing teacher? I teach via Zoom if so. Previous students range from professionals (National Theatre, Unicorn Theatre) to beginners. My background is professional jazz singing, though I trained classically - my teacher was Head of Opera at the Royal College of Music. If you're interested in taking lessons please give me a call on 07554 863386. Thanks. Regards Sarah www.sarahmoule.net
  12. Hello, I am an East Dulwich resident and professional singer who loves to teach. Learning the nuts and bolts of good singing technique and song interpretation are both well suited to Zoom lessons as well as being enjoyable and cumulative. Learning to read music and sight-sing are also great things to learn over Zoom. My online lessons go at the pace of each student and follow a step by step study of the fundamentals of singing well - breathing, posture and developing vocal control. For advanced singers lessons can be tailored to specific areas of voice work. Sight singing students follow an established curriculum which is suitable for all ages. Past students range from amateur singers from age 10 to 70, working actors at the Unicorn Theatre and National Theatre, Brit School applicants and professional singers. If you would like a short trial lesson or more information about me as a teacher please get in touch via the forum. I look forward to hearing from you!
  13. Hello! Would you like to sing with more confidence and make the most of your voice? I'm a professional jazz singer and teacher. I teach pop and jazz and work with singers at all levels from those starting out to professionals. An average lesson covers a warm up, vocal exercises and work on a song, followed by a warm down. I am as happy to work with singers who want to improve their technique as those who want to just work on song interpretation. My studio is in East Dulwich and I look forward to hearing from you.
