  1. Tyler is a member of the Federation of Master Builders and a very straightforward and personable builder.  'Anything to do with cement' is how he described his remit, so landscaping, paving, building, repointing.  He did a repointing job for us and sealed a new aco drain.  A small job but very well executed.  Would definitely use his company again.  His details are: 07582483455, [email protected]

  2. Hi fellow locals

Is there an electrical goods mending clinic in ED?  I have a hammer drill battery that won't charge, have tried doing a quick battery to battery charge to get it going for a longer proper charge - to no avail - but youtube tells me it may be a popped safety cap on one of the batteries inside.  Easy to fix, but not for someone unversed in things electrical.  I hate to junk a good drill for the sake of a tiny fix.  I think I've seen an electrical mending event mentioned on the forum before?  Any info please?

    Thanks.

Peter studied Flamenco in Andaluc?a and Latin guitar with working musicians from Rio De Janeiro. He also has a long history of performing in Rock bands and ensembles of various descriptions. He is described as a Virtuoso Guitarist because he combines the technical qualities and emotion of classical performance with the feeling, groove and accessibility of popular styles.

    Calton String Quintet

Calton String Quintet combines Royal Academy qualified musicians with high-end amateurs. Though a String Quintet, they primarily play arrangements from the world of dance, by composers covering a 250 year span and most of the world. Though many of our event performers live nearby, they break the closeness record by performing in the same road they rehearse in.

    Mazaika Gypsy Duo

The Mazaika Duo is a perfect, yet totally unconventional marriage of violin, accordion and voice, with performances full of fun, excitement and virtuosity, with emotional depth and musical subtlety. Their twinkling humour, rapport with the audience and with each other gives the audience an intoxicating experience which they will not easily forget. Mazaika can take you on a troika into the heart of Russia, where you will experience the joy and sorrow of Russian folk and Gypsy songs and the fiery passion of the gypsy violin.

  4. Hello Fellow East Dulwich Residents

I'm a singer and am starting a Singing Warm Up Group on Zoom. It's for anyone who wants to do some light singing and keep their voice in shape, or get their voice in better shape, and work on their breathing and tuning. It entails meeting once or twice a week on Zoom to sing through some vocal warm up exercises to backing tracks (ie Stevie Wonder). Everyone is muted while doing the exercises but there's a short Q&A at the end to discuss any questions or difficulties anyone is having. No one hears anyone else! Everyone welcome. Get in touch if you'd like to give it a try. It's free and takes no longer than 30 mins. Look forward to hearing from anyone interested!

  5. Hi Saria

Are you still looking for a singing teacher? I teach via Zoom if so. Previous students range from professionals (National Theatre, Unicorn Theatre) to beginners. My background is professional jazz singing, though I trained classically - my teacher was Head of Opera at the Royal College of Music. If you're interested in taking lessons please give me a call on 07554 863386.

    Thanks.

    Regards

    Sarah

  6. Hello, I am an East Dulwich resident and professional singer who loves to teach. Learning the nuts and bolts of good singing technique and song interpretation are both well suited to Zoom lessons as well as being enjoyable and cumulative. Learning to read music and sight-sing are also great things to learn over Zoom. My online lessons go at the pace of each student and follow a step by step study of the fundamentals of singing well - breathing, posture and developing vocal control. For advanced singers lessons can be tailored to specific areas of voice work. Sight singing students follow an established curriculum which is suitable for all ages. Past students range from amateur singers from age 10 to 70, working actors at the Unicorn Theatre and National Theatre, Brit School applicants and professional singers. If you would like a short trial lesson or more information about me as a teacher please get in touch via the forum. I look forward to hearing from you!
  7. Hello! Would you like to sing with more confidence and make the most of your voice? I'm a professional jazz singer and teacher. I teach pop and jazz and work with singers at all levels from those starting out to professionals. An average lesson covers a warm up, vocal exercises and work on a song, followed by a warm down. I am as happy to work with singers who want to improve their technique as those who want to just work on song interpretation. My studio is in East Dulwich and I look forward to hearing from you.
  8. There's a new pop up shop, Myles From Home, selling homewares and nice odd things, both new and vintage, opened for the Christmas season and poss to New Year. Worth popping into especially if you're looking for Frieda Kahlo themed things - they have lots! I just happened upon it when leaving the polling station at the Herne Tavern, it's almost next door to it. Open every day except Monday.
  9. Hello! Would you like to sing with more confidence and make the most of your voice? I'm a professional jazz singer and teacher and I have space for a couple of students. I teach pop and jazz and work with singers at all levels from those starting out to professionals. I can also teach you to read music. My studio is in East Dulwich. My rate is ?40ph for adults, ?20 per half-hour for children. I look forward to hearing from you.
  10. Hi, wondering whether you found your vocal coach? I'm a local professional jazz singer (Ronnie Scott's, Southbank Centre, BBC R2 Friday Night Is Music Night, etc) and teach in my studio in East Dulwich. I cover all kinds of pop, jazz and musical theatre singing and recent students include a National Theatre actress and a teenager into pop. 07554 863386 give me a ring if you'd like to discuss.

    Best regards

  11. Hello, I'm a professional singer (Ronnie Scott's Club, The John Wilson Orchestra (does the Proms most years), BBC Concert Orchestra, Lenny Henry Show, Paul O'Grady Show, etc) and I love teaching other people how to build confidence and get the most from their singing and speaking voice. I trained with a classical singer (English National Opera and Head of Opera at the Royal College of Music) and studied jazz. I've also studied the Estill Model of voice production (used by many good Drama schools). Seeing my students, the youngest of whom is 13 now and the oldest in his late 60s, gaining in confidence and developing their singing and public speaking is a real pleasure for me. I had great teachers myself and enjoy passing on what I was taught and what I've learned in the last 20 years performing professionally. Everyone can improve and enjoy their voice, whether they've got a Steinway in there or a more modest instrument, if they want to put in a bit of effort. It's a muscle that needs to be gently exercised and coaxed in the right way. I charge ?30ph and teach in my studio in East Dulwich. Whether someone wants to build up the confidence to join a choir, stand in the spotlight or in front of colleagues and deliver a presentation with focus I have the experience and enthusiasm to help them. DBS checked. website: www.sarahmoule.net. Refs available.

I look forward to hearing from you!

  13. Hello Singers and Speakers!

I am a singing and voice teacher (and professional singer - 4 CDs, Southbank Centre, Ronnie Scott's Club, Royal Albert Hall, etc) living in East Dulwich and I have space for a couple more students. I trained with a classical teacher and have studied the Estill Model. My lessons are usually part technique, part repertoire/performance and I encourage students to have a goal towards which we work - be it overcoming a particular vocal difficulty, getting a set of songs together for performance or pleasure, or working on a spoken presentation. I also teach sight-singing, separately from voice production. I charge ?30ph and am pretty flexible about teaching times including Saturday mornings as my studio is at home. Students of all ages and experience are welcome. Have a current DBS. I look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to work on their voice!

  15. Hi, I've built and am running my website: www.sarahmoule.net, but it is loading very slowly. I think some JavaScript needs moving and caching needs doing to help it load quicker. I'm looking for someone who has come across slow loading problems in wordpress before and who can help me get it down from 4 seconds to about 2, if not less. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks.
