  1. i have the same problem, my one year old insists on feeding herself, which isn't too bad most off the time- most things she can just pick up and eat, it just means a bit more mess at the end. Pasta shapes are a good base, and i can often slip in spoonfuls of sauce as she eats. I also put things onto her fork, and she can pick it up and eat it herself. i do mini sandwiches at lunch time ( her favourite is banana ones) , and often toast soldiers dipped in humous or avocado.
  2. Hello, my 10 month old has had a dry cough for 3 weeks now...it started off as a heavy cold/cough, but the last two weeks, she only seems to get it at night (and nap times, occasionally). I just wondered if anyone had any experience of coughs lasting this long...maybe its quite normal, but stupidly i googled it, and predictably enough it could indicate almost anything. I have been to the doctor, but for know she says to 'see how it goes'...
  3. hey, my nine month old had similar symptoms all last week(and still now a bit...)- started off with excessive drooling/bad cold/v high temp/diarreah/no eating little drinking. we treated the temp with calpol, and got her to drink as much fluids as possible and a few bananas and yoghurts. i eventually took her to gp then hospital, who diagnosed gastric bug and a bit of dehydration and just continued calpol really. yeasterday she got a rash all over her body, which i think can happen after various viruses..??she's going to gp today just incase. i also found similar symptoms for Roseola, which is not serious normally, just need to take care of the temperature/hydration. sorry, this is probably rather unhelpful, but maybe reassuring to know this may be sth 'going round'. take care x
  4. if anyone likes, i no longer need my copy of Gina Fords 'Contented little baby with toddler' book-- i didnt get on well with it as my two are so difficult in terms of routine, but it does have some good tips/good for dipping into to kind of get an idea of what babies 'should' be doing re sleep. free for pick up lyndhurst grove area.
  5. for speedy bottle feeding at night, (along with using a dummy for a minute or so so toddler doesnt wake up), i put just boiled water in a thermos, then put some extra cooled boiled water in a bottle. when baby wakes up, i mix a small bit of the hot water with required amount of formula (to sterilise it), then shake, then top it up with the cold water (with the formula added, you have to go over the measure...i know from experience how much that is in my bottles, but you can just check the difference in water height when adding the hot water).... that all sounds a bit complicated doesnt it!? its not though, honest, and it allows you to 'scald' the formula but still have lukewarm milk immediately.
  6. girls names i loved but discarded this(last) time around: Summayah (Bengali name?...i once taught a little girl of this name) Arwen (though after the Lord of the rings films, i didnt want people thinking it was after that) and Nina, Joanna and Thea as more 'normal' but rarely heard names these days.
  7. talking of Atticus, it occurred to me Harper could be nice, for girl or boy....?
  8. thank you all-- i suppose i just wanted to make sure it was normal. for some reason, when i know why she's crying, its so much easier for me to comfort her. Yes, i did wonder about an ear infection, but wouldn't the pain be more constant? She also, bizzarely, sleeps well at night which makes me think its not something like that.
  9. my 6 month old really is dribbling for england, quite irritable most of the day, and at some points cries like she's really in pain....no other symptoms, so am assuming its teething-- has anyone else's little one had it so bad as to make them cry (almost inconsolably)?
  10. Can I just say darlin' that i tried one of the 'small world' (is that the right name?) ideas from your blog with my 3 year old, and she played with it ALL DAY (apart from errands out and mealtimes) for 3 whole days...now when we're out on walks she's always looking out for small twigs/stones to put in her 'island' as she calls it - thank you!- with a new baby around ideas like that are a life-saver!
  11. i used Clary Sage oil at around 40 weeks, probably in too high a concentration really in my baths and on my pillow (and my scarves and clothes i happened to be wearing)...and i went into labour very suddenly and strongly at 40+4 -everything was over in 1hour and a half...I'm not sure if it was the oil tbh, but may have been! ALTHOUGH...if it was that that had that effect, i wouldnt recommend it...everything was so rushed, and baby was in distress, and although everyone thinks i was so lucky to have a quick birth i did find it quite traumatic. Perhaps try it in small amounts, or with a professional. x
  12. chadwick rd is my normal hv too...apparently theyre running one at the Albrighton Centre instead, i think on wednesday afternoons, though im not sure about the day...i'm sure they'll know if you phone chadwick road? Albrighton is too far for me in the afternoons, so i just made an appt with the nurse at chadwick road to get my little one weighed, though im not sure if she'd be able to help with other advice...
  13. could we come too please, one mum, one toddler, one newborn?!
  14. my daughter loves all the Shirley Hughes books- 'Dogger', 'Alfie gets in first', 'Tom and Lucy's Christmas'...there's loads of them. really lovely detailed pictures too.
  15. my sister works for Ugg and she always uses baby wipes as first port of call...
  16. my 3 year old daughter started complaining of being 'sticky' at night over a period of a few weeks (but no temperature unless it was very slight), and at the same time she was intermittently coming out in hives which she'd never had before...she had had quite a bad cold and cough beforehand and during this period, and so i put it down to a particular viral infection. All symptoms have passed now and im none the wiser. sorry not to be able to shed some light on the matter, but just to let you know weve experienced a somewhat similar thing... i would always go to the doctor myself though even if just to put my mind at ease.
  17. i'm using 'floradix', a natural liquid supplement for low iron -- doesn't seem to have the side affects of iron tablets...i got in in my local chemist.
  18. i can't do 24th july either, but 31st would be great, as would p rye park...lovely meeting you on sunday!
  19. yes please, my second due 8th october, would be so nice to meet others! x
  20. Hi- just wondering if anyone's tried rafts and rascals as an alternative to jelly babies (at Peckham Pulse...)- my 2 year old is a bit bored with our regular jelly baby sessions, but i was worried the rafts and rascals might be a bit too much for her if its for older children? thanks x

  22. thank you very much, that sounds great, Crompo
