MadAboutTheHouse
Dear AllWe are currently looking for London based couples who own their own place and who would like to give it a dream make-over and it would be terrific if that was someone in East-Dulwich. Perhaps they are struggling to find the funds to do so, as we aim to help them with a bit of a boost. The programme will follow each couple as they embark on renovating a selected 3 rooms in their home with the help of a ?10,000 cash injection. We are really keen to spread the word as far as we can and would love to have some forum members from here, so we hope this may be of interest to you.? Guys - are you passionate about creating a dream home in an inspired style, but never been given the chance? Are you full of ideas but not got the funds?? Girls ? do you and your partner spend every trip to B&Q arguing over which colour of paint will work at home?? Or have you just moved into your partner?s place and think you need to put your personal design stamp on it?? Would you like a cash injection of ?10K to help create your dream home?To apply or for more information get in contact ASAP by email homes @ renegadepictures.co.ukNB: To apply you must be the owner or mortgage payer at the property. You should not be living as a tenant in a rented property or be part of a shared ownership scheme that requires another party?s consent to carry out any form of alteration (large or small). Thanks in advanceKind regardsFraser MullenResearcher | Mad About The House Series 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10070-bbc3-10000-home-design-and-makeover-series/ Share on other sites

Sue
:))If only this had been last year ..... I shelled out over ten grand, never mind getting a "cash injection", nothing's finished and much of it has got to be redone.Maybe I will investigate, but everything's in limbo at the moment, not sure I can bear putting myself through it all again :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10070-bbc3-10000-home-design-and-makeover-series/#findComment-298391 Share on other sites

The format of the show is such that we are looking for couples, married or otherwise, as the guy and the girl tackle different aspects of a makeover during the programme. We need a couple who are living together as they will have different approaches, different outlooks and differing attachments to the home. Apologies if this discounts anyone.Fraser Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10070-bbc3-10000-home-design-and-makeover-series/#findComment-298579 Share on other sites

Huguenot
I think the couples thing is reasonable isn't it? This is entertainment after all, not a public service. They need to have at least two people to create that kind of conflict dynamic that hooks viewers.I guess if you had determined headstrong teenagers it might achieve the same thing.I'm not sure about the heterosexual thing. If it's the 'ED' profile they're aiming for, then their audience isn't going to take umbrage at a gay couple. I'd even make the sweeping generalisation that homophobic people aren't necessarily going to be the core audience of flouncy middle-class home makeover shows... Several of the puffs, like this one, have little custom tweaks to address the readers of a particular forum or site. MadAboutTheHouse
Hi Ian,We are very much trying to find a London based couple for this series which, unlike most programmes, has actually been one of the more tricky tasks, possibly due to house prices. I contacted a number of major employers in the area and a couple of them suggested posting on here due to the number of subscribers and general good humour of the site! I cant pretend that I have tailored my 'puff' too much, however a friendly, creative, South Londoner (like myself as it happens) would be a great fit for the series (unlike myself who obviously cannot do it).Warm regards and appreciation for your thoughts,Fraser Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10070-bbc3-10000-home-design-and-makeover-series/#findComment-298704 Share on other sites

Pugwash
What a pity you cannot extend this to Orpington. My daughter and her partner purchased a house in Orpington 6/7 years ago and have only managed to decorate 2 rooms as kids, university, and lack of cash have prevented them doing anything. MadAboutTheHouse
Hi Andy,When we have received and processed your application you will usually here from us within 2weeks if we are able to follow up on the interest. Obviously we have had quite a lot of reposnse to the series, but we are looking in London most feverishly at the moment so hopefully we will be able to be in touch.Warm regardsFraser Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10070-bbc3-10000-home-design-and-makeover-series/#findComment-299562 Share on other sites

Sue
Hmmm. Thanks ianr, just looked at the website.Seems actually what this is about is getting one partner to do stuff in the house without the agreement of or knowledge of the other, and then filming the resultant arguments :-SI thought "mad about the house" meant enthusiasm - apparently it actually means, erm, ANGER. Aka good TV.Of course I could be completely wrong ......Think I'd rather stay friends/lovers with my partner than get ten grand for doing the house up in a way I might hate, but hey, that's just me :):-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10070-bbc3-10000-home-design-and-makeover-series/#findComment-300001 Share on other sites
MadAboutTheHouse
Hi Sue,You are correct that it is one half of the couple who sets about the makeover, but they certainly do have the agreement and full knowledge of their partner and we speak in great depth with both halves of each couple, plus a few of their friends before we set about any of the filming - explaining in detail what is involved and the in's and out's of the format and structure of the show. It really isnt anger TV at all and pretty much without exception in the first series both halves were very happy with their homes after the makeover.Unfortunately because the series went out more than a month ago there arent any clips available online, but we do try and find couples who would get a great deal out of taking part in the series.Warm regardsFraser Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/10070-bbc3-10000-home-design-and-makeover-series/#findComment-300040 Share on other sites
