Free books for babies born since 1st December 2015

Recommended Posts

Any Southwark baby born in the 12 months from 1st December 2015 can sign up to receive a free book addressed to them in the post every month until they are 5 ? 60 books in total. It?s a fantastic scheme called the Imagination Library, set up by Dolly Parton initially in the US, and sponsored in Southwark by locally-based business Dial A Flight. We?ve had over 200 parents sign up their child already, but we want to reach as many people as possible so please do spread the word. There?s no catch and the books are carefully chosen for each age group and are of really high quality ? I?ve seen a selection which included the different Beatrix Potter stories, Just Imagine, and of course some touch and feel type books for tiny tots. All the details are here and we?d be really grateful if you could help spread the word: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200567/dolly_partons_imagination_library

    • We got some good quality items at the children’s Christopher’s by the Goose Green roundabout.
    • She also suggested that the 2017 Manchester terror attack (perpetrated by an Islamist extremist) was due to "divisiveness" and tried to pin the blame on the far right. Grim, really.
    • Thankfully, it seems that yesterday's "Red vs Blue" school wars thing has turned out to be a hoax/ nonsense/ whatever. (See link below if you managed to avoid this stuff). In years to come, we might found out who - or which countries - has an interest in testing what happens when you post socially disruptive content online about fake events... In the meantime, thank you to our local teachers and other school workers, police community support officers and police officers. My commute happens to take me past a bunch of schools at dropoff/pickup times, and I noticed a much greater and more visible presence on streets outside/near schools than normal. Annoying as it must have been to be distracted from other important duties, I really value and appreciate them looking out for the kids. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/school-wars-trend-red-blue-london-police-latest-142328025.html https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jan/01/birmingham-new-year-fireworks-display-centenary-square-police
