Exterior painter needed ASAP - I've been let down

Recommended Posts

Please help, I'm looking for a for a good painter/decorator to sort out my window frames.

Last year I contacted Chris E Smith (07951251295) as he had done quite a lot of work in the area and seemed like a nice chap. Anyway he only did a third of the work and has been delaying coming back for over 9 months! I seriously would not recommend him - it's been so frustrating - I don't have much time to follow up and chase with two small kids and working full time, his communication has been so poor. I just want to get the job done now!

Please please please let me know if you have some good local recommendations.

Many thanks.

Hi DGreenhalgh,

I am a Painter & Decorator and I'm deeply sorry to hear what has happened. As a sole trader, my registered address is on my website, quotes and invoice, and on my facebook page. Every quote has Terms & Conditions which protects us both from any form of misbehaviour from the decorator (myself) and the customer.

Feel free to check out my facebook on www.facebook.com/idecorate to see what previous customers have said about my work, before and after pics with videos to peruse and choose. I have never disappointed a customer and I plan to never disappoint one. I encourage you to contact myself directly on 07872576883 to have a conversation about how your window frames will be taken care of and a time frame of when to have them finished

Kind regards,

Michael Barsoum

Hi Diane

Just seen this message on the eastdulwichforum, after someone informed me that this was on here.

I would just like to mentioned that I work all over Dulwich and have worked for Dulwich College for sixteen years, and I have never received anything like this before. The reason why I didn't return to do the next stage of your decorating was because I was worried that I would not get paid as you asked me to wait for payment and, as your remember, your mother eventually had to pay me because you never had the money! As a working father with three children to support I cant not wait for payment once I have finished my work. You shouldn't have work done if you haven't got the money.

I am currently working for a barrister in Dulwich who says that this definition of character and you have no right to put my name and private telephone number on this forum for everyone to see. As mentioned, I am a father of three and this could have effected me getting work around the Dulwich area and loss of earnings. I am able to get references from all of my clients who are more than happy with my work.

Could you please remove this immediately otherwise I will be seeking legal advice.

    • https://www.letslinkuk.net/ I'm interested to know why the OP didn't find this sort of scheme to work, as I would have thought it was much harder to find someone to do a direct exchange with? Does anybody else have experience of a scheme like this? Happy to be persuaded!
    • I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.

    • I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
