Volunteers Needed

Home-Start Southwark

Recommended Posts

Would you like to volunteer for a local charity?

Home-Start Southwark is a registered charity in Southwark. Our approach is simple, but effective. We provide trained volunteers with parenting experience to help any parent, with at least one child under five who is finding it hard to cope.

Most parents would agree that being a parent, wherever you live, whatever your circumstances, isn?t always easy. Combine that with additional pressures such as illness, bereavement, financial worries, multiple births, isolation and many other extra pressures and without the support of family and/or friends the pressures can seem overwhelming.

If you would like to support a family for 2-3 hours, one day per week and are interested in volunteering for us you will need to attend our training course, the next course starts on Wednesday May 4th 2016 and runs every Wednesday for 6 weeks, 10am-2pm. If you are interested in attending please call 020 7737 7720 for more information.

    • I wouldn't completely rule out being more central in East Dulwich due to smaller houses - you can definitely get a house the size you need on Crystal Palace Road, for example, (and potentially Fellbrigg or Ulverscroft). CPR has a lot of semi-detached houses that would be roughly 1800 square foot if you include a loft conversion. And the gardens are decent sizes. The top end (IE the end nearer Dulwich Library) is very near Dulwich Park, and the 185, 40 and 197 buses on Lordship Lane go straight to Denmark Hill which gets you into Blackfriars in 12 minutes. It's a lovely walk to St Paul's in the morning, I do it every day. It's very near Dulwich College, Alleyns or JAGs, depending on which school you're referring to! Our son is at DC and he either walks through the park or gets the P13 bus. So that's what I'd do if I was you.
