MARJ
A group of youths/ thugs attacked the tesco (near peckham rye) security guard today. Security guard had done his job earlier and pulled said youths up for shop lifting. They threatened him but apparently the police wouldn't come until the actual attack took place. Even when called during the attack the police they took their time. Poor security guard. I hope he's okay. Hope they catch the little *****. DulwichFox
Bit of a dodgy spot there... I don't think this has been an isolated incident.. They had some problem with their Cash Machines being tampered with.. KestonKid
They have also been plagued by blatant shop-lifting, which has kept the sole secrurity guard extremely busy. EDmummy
I hope the guard is ok. These small supermarkets are always going to struggle with shoplifting- aisles too close together, piled high etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106175-attack-in-tescos-this-afternoon/#findComment-997287 Share on other sites

ED209
The yell "FIRE" instead of "HELP" (or "RAPE") theory is just something that a New York Times editor made up in 1964 and it has been spouted as fact without any evidence to suggest its true by many police departments and self help teachers ever since.http://www.crime-safety-security.com/kitty-genovese-article-bank.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/106175-attack-in-tescos-this-afternoon/#findComment-998587 Share on other sites
robbin
It's also not a relevant consideration here - shouting "fire" is meant to get attention and that may or not be the case, but here there would obviously have been staff and customers all over the place - it was not a problem getting attention, the problem was that the police (are said to have) taken a while to get there. Calling the Fire Brigade obviously would not have helped with that! I don't think you would be thanked for wasting the Fire Brigade's time! Just saying.
