Public meeting on Saturday about your train service!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

As you all know, the train service on the Catford Loop has some serious issues with delays, cancellations, short formed trains and this has only got worse over the last few months.

Our campaign - A Cinderella Line has been working to fight for a better service for Catford Loop passengers, so those that use the service from Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye, Nunhead, Crofton Park, Catford, Bellingham, Beckenham Hill and Ravensbourne.

We have been able to arrange a public meeting on Saturday 21st May from 2-3pm at the Rivoli Ballroom at Crofton Park http://www.rivoliballroom.com/#!how-to-find-us/mdwgs and would like to invite local residents to attend.

The meeting will be attended by Directors from both Thameslink Railway and Network Rail, and local MP for Lewisham Vicky Foxcroft will chair the meeting.

The meeting will be kept to an hour and the agenda is below:

- Welcome and introduction from MP Vicky Foxcroft

- Update from the Cinderella Line Campaign team on what we have been working on

- Update from Thameslink Railways on what they are doing to improve

- Update from Network Rail

- Your chance to ask questions and put your comments directly to those that run your service

Its really important that we have as many people attending as possible, as we need to show Thameslink that the poor service is having a real impact on local residents, businesses and the wider community.

Please see the attached flyer for more information about the meeting, and you can check our our website: http://www.acinderellaline.com/ for more details about the campaign.

We hope to see you there!

Of interest London Overground services on the East London Line were improved in the late evenings and weekends from last Sunday (15th) so that trains run every 15 minutes on the route via Peckham Rye until around 2330 instead of every 30 minutes after 2200. One caveat there is still a 30 minute gap to / from Clapham Junction as one train in the 15 minute cycle goes to and from Battersea Park to fulfill a 'Parliamentary train' requirement - still serves all the other stations though and their connections to and from Clapham Junction at Battersea Park. This improvement was prompted by 2014 research by London TravelWatch. http://www.londontravelwatch.org.uk/documents/get_lob?id=3896&field=file

Encourage everyone to attend the meeting on Saturday.

Thank you TB2! We are in touch with London TravelWatch to look at the Thameslink Services and have their support of our campaign.

We hope that as many of you are able to attend as possible tomorrow.

If you are unable to attend but would still like to support, please can we ask you to sign our petition for a better service: https://www.change.org/p/thameslink-a-decent-train-service-for-crofton-park-and-the-catford-loop and do follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

    • @first mate  just Google the Green's policies and AI should summarise.  For sustainable transport this includes more initiatives to get people out of their cars as you would expect.  I've always been broadly in favour of their environmental policies, although feel they should go further on culture change. Some of their national policies are bonkers and/or unrealistic - as are most of Reform's.  Historically fringe parties could come up with nonsense, as they will never govern.  Of course whilst I don't expect that Polanski will ever be PM that other bloke could be.  Worrying times, particularly if the Greens split the centre/left vote.  It would be better if One Nation Tories could split the centre vote (and drag some of those on the right), but they don;t have a lot of influence in the current party. One particularly bonkers policy was one element of the Greens who wanted us out of Europe, not because of Europe being pro market/capitalism but because we needed a recession, deindustrialise, so we would all go back to the middle ages.  Or something along those lines.  I lost some friends because of this. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03y5trr#:~:text="Protectionism against developing countries%2C savage austerity in,the case for either remain or leave. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jun/08/eu-reform-green-brexit
    • I've planted a meadow out front, it needs a lot of work.  It's lovely until August and then grotty until the next spring as once the flowers have died back it doesn't have a lot going for it.  Clover is the last one to flower.  It will get admiring looks when in bloom. I laugh quite loud when I pass one neighbour with plastic grass, not only is it dead to nature it is not even laid well,   I should be crying.
    • Andy did a number of jobs for me and was very reasonably priced. He's very helpful, arrives on time, pays attention to detail and a nice man. I'll be using him again and recommending him to my friends.
    • A Y13 student of Art at The Charter School North Dulwich left their A3 art portfolio on the 37 bus after school on Friday 13 February - travelling from North Dulwich to East Dulwich.  TFL and the bus garage have been contacted but do not have it.  It is a large A3 transparent bag with a black art folder inside.  The student's name is inside the portfolio and the bag is stamped with the school name.  If anyone happens to have picked up the portfolio or has any leads please do contact [email protected]  We are really keen to get our student's work back safely!
