...does anyone know a local mum with a roughly 5-month-old daughter called Wren?

I met her a few weeks back at the breastfeeding cafe in Peckham Library and she really made me laugh. I don't know many other mums in the area and thought it would be nice to see her again because I liked her sense of humour, but didn't say anything at the time and haven't seen her since.

Of course, if you do know her, or if you are her, and you find my stalkerish post rather offputting feel free not to pass the message on/reply... :-$

[God, now I know how men feel asking girls out. Excruciating...]

Exactly! Feel like an utter plonker but it's worth a shot...

Just in case she/someone who knows her reads this, that day I think I was wearing a grass green kimono-style jumper, a floral neckscarf and blue jeans. Also some shoes, obviously, but no idea what they were. My daughter is called Lois and she was a couple of months old at the time.

OK, enough now. [slinks away thoroughly embarrassed...]

Hahahah! Well I'm deeply flattered - Radha here, Wren's mum. I remember you and Lois and was also wearing shoes, so we already have loads in common. I'll PM you with phone number etc but wanted to post here so everyone would know you're a successful stalker :)

I have collected lots of mums numbers over the years.. and made a very good friend of a mum I accosted while she was brestfeeding her daughter in sainsburys cafe.. now she is godmother to my twins!

It's nice to make friends, but it can be a bit difficult. Maybe we should have a mum-friend matchmaking thread.

Would like to meet, mum with a high tolerance of over exuberant 7 year old boys, must like eating cake.

ha. often though the first 6 months with baby were a bit like Freshers Week at Uni, " Hi I am Katgod, i used to work at X co, I live at y, my baby is Z weeks old and sleeps A hours per night and I am mixed feeding, you seem like a reasobable non freaky or judgmental type WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND??"

glad you made contact

Hahaha - totally is like freshers week without the booze and fags. But Radha, I hope I'm not the weirdo you spend the next three years trying to shake off... And I promise not to follow you to your house/build a shrine to you/go all single white female on yo *ss.

Thanks for getting in touch!

LOVE this post!

    • My husband was in a cycling accident just after 10pm on Friday, May 30.    He hit the pedestrian crossing pole going west down East Dulwich Grove, just past Glengarry Road.    He was knocked out and doesn’t remember anything - and I wanted to say thank you to whoever called the ambulance, and was there with him after the accident. (And to give you an update: thankfully, there was no head injury. He got very lucky with just a fractured face.)   We’re trying to get CCTV footage - but if there any witnesses who can help paint a clearer picture of what happened, it would be really appreciated.
    • This is the relevant passage, I believe "Southwark Council (Peckham Rye, Burgess Park, Southwark Park) will earn a projected £440,000 from events in its parks in 2025, up from £340,000 in 2024. Events include GALA Festival in Peckham Rye, August’s Boiler Room, Jazz Café and Maiden Voyage in Burgess Park, and RALLY festival in Southwark Park." What would of course be interesting to know is what they spend this on. Is there any transferred benefit to those local people who live around and use these facilities? But I wouldn't hold your breath for an answer.
