Advice bridging loans - any positive experiences?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I just wondered if anyone has used a bridging loan to buy a property while waiting for their house to sell. We are selling a house, but our buyers pulled out near to completion. I am keen not to lose the house we were buying and wondered if a bridging loan might be the solution.

Can anyone recommend any bridging loan companies or perhaps a financial adviser or even any other ways of securing the house we want to buy? (If that's possible!)

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Cheers

Kate

Hello, when you go for bridging it's because you haven't got any other options! You just need to look at the terms, the interest rates (high) and how long you're going to need it for + have a watertight plan for repaying at the end of the term. You can use a FA but some of these loans you can do yourself and save a ?1,000+ that way. I would say study the terms and if you're confident you can pay the rate for that short term + the cost + know you can pay it off at the end of the term and cover their solicitors fees + you think its worth it to secure a property you really like then try it. They will look at your case and decide whether you are a low risk for them also.

    • It’s good we are having this discussion. My point of view is that we are definitely witnessing an attempt at genocide in Palestine, the right wing of the Israeli government have anti-Arab views, some of the language representing the worse of humanity.  Jewishness should not be conflated with Israel or Zionism, I see that has been the case for some of the comments in this thread. Conflating the actions of a Zionist Israeli Government with Jewish people is actually considered antisemitism and is a very dangerous way of thinking, leading to Jewish people in the UK feeling unsafe.    Support peace and march today, I have been many times and met some lovely people.
    • Are they entering the test in 2026 and going to university in 2027?
    • Hello everyone! My daughter is planning to apply to Cambridge for Mathematics for the 2026 entry, and as a parent, I want to make sure she has the best possible support during this process. We've been researching different resources and came across several tutoring services that offer help with personal statements, STEP preparation, and interview practice. For example, we found these websites: Company 1 Company 2 Company 2 Has anyone here (students or parents) had experience with tutors or mentors like these for Cambridge Maths applications? Did you find them genuinely helpful for STEP and interviews, or is self-preparation with past papers and school support sufficient? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and whether this kind of investment is worthwhile! Many thanks in advance!
