Jacks. Not much room, but as long as you don't allow toddler to go mental, they never make you feel uncomfortable. They can go and sit at their own table and play. I sometimes think the more room there is, the more freedom they expect. My daughter tends to behave at Jacks for some reason.

Dulwich Park Cafe our fave but v busy. Last week couldn't get a high chair at either P Rye or DP though on various days and had to relocate to the Plough/the Herne - pubs good on weekday lunchtimes! I'm too scared to re-try Green and Blue since a 6 month old baby snowboarder had a rather loud moment over lunch...shudders at the memory...Blue Mountain good but space limited. Apparently the cafe at Brockwell Lido is good?

(Who says I just go out for lunch the whole time??!)

Really limited space, but Mon Petit Chou have always been very accomadating and understanding when we've bowled up with Sebastian. I had my first nursing in public...er...experience there, and the waitress smiled at me and told me her Mum BF her for 4 years! Top notch, made us all feel comfortable. Also, nice food that doesn't cost the earth.

In the 40's you had two choices, option one, suck your thumb, or option two, go without.

My brother had a small piece of ribbon which he rubbed together between finger and thumb when he went to bed.

It was not the done thing for kids to suck their thumb at school,

as it was deemed babyish if you were a male child anyway, girls had a different set of values which guys never understood.

Sooooooooo, no change there then.

There is always us if you don't mind getting on a bus! We have our brand new self contained kids play room - ideal for toddlers, open every day. 25% discount on food for mums mon to fri, if you come in and ask about becoming a member of our (free) "mum's the word" group.

Apologies for hijacking the thread with a bit of shameful self publicity...

the florence is a nice walk over to herne hill actually. have yet to try the playroom, really keen to though.

also brockwell lido cafe has a box of toys so my little boy was able to have a bit of a crawl around (until an unfortunate incident involving a stumble, his teeth, and his top lip, OUCH! but obviously nothing to do with the surroundings!) and lovely food. and nice wine...

Have you got parking?

I love Jacks and am sad that since they started closing on Saturdays I cannot get there any more. The most accomodating local places I find are The Pavilion Cafe, Peckham Rye Park Cafe, Mon Petit Chou. Luca's and Blue Mountain can be fine especially if you get a garden spot. From time to time I get over to Petitou in Peckham and that is lovely too. Cafe 2050 on Forest Hill Road is a hidden gem.

So, there you go, I like stopping for a cuppa with my little ones.

    • It didn't occur to me to ask. No idea if dieticians are employed within the NHS. It is just one line of enquiry among others. The GP mentioned it, not me.
    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
