Does anyone have any knowledge of asbestos hazard. A number of large pile of the stuff have

been piled against the fence at the old Banfield woodyard site on the junction of Barry and

Underhill Road.I thought it was dangerous to break it up and expose the fibres ?

I drew it to the attention of Southwark Envir. Enforcement who were in attendance yesterday evening

investigating the large bonfire but they didn't seem to have any knowledge.

Another resident asked me about this and I referred this to Southwark Enforcement Officers on Monday.

Late yesterday they referred me onto the H&S Executive.

I've reported the incident and have been given reference number 02855374 and will apparently be emailed a report about this incident in the next 3-5 days.

Hi northlondoner,

That's very kind of you but my wife and young kids patience is close to breaking point with all the current campaigning as it is.

Also, I think having a normal day job helps me bring useful perspectives to how the council runs - apart from also paying the mortgage.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
