First off - happy May Day everyone. I love the start of May - such a beautiful month (having a birthday in it helps ;-)).

Does anyone know if anything May Day-ish is happening in or around ED this weekend? I was thinking May Pole, Morris Dancers ('cept the guy with the pig's bladders and horse's head used to freak me out when I was a kid)?

I had a quick look in the What's on Section and couldn't find anything - any ideas?

Oh - it has to be suitable for a 4 month old baby, a nearly three year old whirling dirvish and a 'still a kid' 35 year old uncle - and me (who will be hitting the gin anyway!).

Thanks for your help xxxxx

Oh dear, that listing was from 2007

Though there is traditional mayday stuff in Rochester/Hastings and some stuff on at Dulwich Picture Gallery

Was up there today but thanks to the rain, I totally missed all of this and stayed camped out in the RFH.

Did see what looked like hundreds of nuns out running around Southwark bridge I think it was.....as some were definitely male, methinks if was some kind of fun run. But still a rather strange sight!!!

I missed it too 'cos of the rain ;-( But we had a totally fab time at the London Transport Museum (with my brother and I getting really competitive with the card-stamping orienteering thing).

We then went and watched some of the busking shows in Covent Garden - where a hapless and nameless 3 year old girl tried to join in and gave her own break dancing sideshow - completely stealin gthe thunder from the guy who was 'supposed' to be the centre of attention.

Sigghhh - happy days!

    • I would like to highly recommend our cleaner Polly and her partner, Steven. They have been cleaning our house for over a year now and always do a fantastic job. Due to a couple of clients moving / doing building work, they have had some availability open up and are looking for additional clients in the East Dulwich area. Highly recommend if you are looking for reliable cleaners. Polly’s number: 07727 042636

    • Loving the irony of a thread which is supposed to be "Rachel Reeves yeah? she's as bad as Liz Truss!" which is clearly not true - but has now morphed into some people praising Kemi Badenoch - someone who may ACTUALLY be much worse than Truss. She is barely in touch with reality     I mean: WTF is she on about here:   https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/kemi-badenoch-lunch-breaks-are-for-wimps-and-sandwiches-are-not-real-food/
    • In the past there has been a spate of thefts like this  around days like Mother's Day. I had all mine stolen once, recently planted up. When I phoned my insurance company, they would only pay out for the window boxes, not the plants and compost, so I didn't bother pursuing it. The police said there had been lots of similar reports. I now chain mine to the window sills.
