akc74
I am browsing nursery mattresses on John Lewis - and my husband is suggesting we go for an organic mattress for the cot bed - as it only costs slightly more than the next one down, which is pocket sprung. However, much as I appreciate it's made from lots of natural fibres (coconut fibre, natural latex, wool, apparently) I can't help thinking that a good old metal spring or two, is going to give more support, which should be the over-riding factor, given it's going to be slept on for a few years - and eventually jumped up and down on - by a toddler. Not that I'm trying to lead the witness. Views?! melbourne groover
I went for the wool covered one for no.1 and she was v happy with it. In a fit of cost saving I went for the next level down for no.2 and wish I hadn't. It is significantly less padded and I have ended up putting a sheepskin on top of it (this is a pain as it is not the full cot size). This obviously hasn't meant I have bought a new one again for no.2 and he does sleep fine... ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11128-cotbed-mattress-advice-organic-pocket-sprung-etc/#findComment-320355 Share on other sites
quickbrownfox
You may also want to check these guys out if organic is an option: http://www.naturalmat.co.uk/ ... although I wonder if they are actually the same product as the John Lewis ones.....spec sounds similar. I'd recommend Natural Mat based on my research into such things! hpsaucey
HI there. You can get both. I got one wool etc without springs for my first as I couldn't find one then. However, I'm pretty sure that the more recent one I've bought is the latex, coir and wool etc with springs. Find them both great for my little ones - and others who've slept on them when needed. Jo
We got our cotbed mattress from these guys Little Green Sheep, also organic. It's a very firm mattress, really well made, and I don't think it'll have any trouble withstanding bouncing :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/11128-cotbed-mattress-advice-organic-pocket-sprung-etc/#findComment-320603 Share on other sites
