mrsilencio
Did I say anything about falling standards? My point was referring to the assessment upheaval and the introduction of a new curriculum - can you tell me what you know about the entirely new set of tests you speak of and whether you think the new curriculum gives children a balanced education? Can you tell me if you think schools chasing thresholds in reading, writing and maths gives a child a balanced education? Can you tell me whether you think that increasing class sizes paired with reduced teaching support and unqualified teachers taking the place of those with years of professional experience is a good thing?Out of interest, could you tell where from what viewpoint you are speaking and how you have come to be such an authority on what teachers think and how the education system is, in actual fact, thriving now more than ever?Just to clarify what you quoted above, with regards to teacher's pay progression, this is not automatic as quoted above, it is based on "performance". Granted, one of the reasons for calling for the strike was terms and conditions of teachers; that isn't necessarily the reason why so many teachers chose to follow the strike. With regards to the accountability issue, could you show me where in the NUT's statement for strike there was any mention of OFSTED?
