Plumber recommendation - A.F.E Plumbing Services

I had a plumbing issue that needed sorting out a few weeks ago and I can also say that I was very impressed with the service. I got their details from the EDF impressed by all the good references. I was not disappointed. They came round promptly and sorted the problem quickly and efficiently. I would use their services again without hesitation.

WOWS, what a long list of positive feedback! I first read recommendations for Aria and Dan over at SE23.life but see they have an even bigger following HERE!

So, just to add another thumbs-up. I'd been putting off four plumbing jobs around my flat for ages. But after a quick phone call, Aria and Dan were on the case a few days later.

It sounds like they are big in demand. But even though they are busy fellas, they kept in touch and made sure all the jobs got done even if they couldn't always be there in person.

As I'm sure a lot of you would agree, sometimes you get plumbers, electricians round and they can be a right grouchy bunch! So it was a nice change to deal with a team who take the job and the customer communication seriously. So I would definitely recommend 'em and also call 'em again if any other plumbing jobs come up.

For an added bonus, I also got some other useful contacts from Aria (electricians, boiler check, gutters etc) which are sure to come in handy.

Found A.F.E plumbing services on the EDF and also independently recommended by a friend. Aria answered my initial message within minutes and gave some useful advice prior to setting up an appointment which saved time. Subsequent communications were easy. Dan and Michael came on the day and sorted my tap problem very quickly. Clean and tidy workers. Knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and respectful. Highly recommended.

Very courteous and polite. Reasonable pricing which came down during the job - the opposite of the usual experience! Lovely trio who I had no problem in leaving alone in my house after just an hour or so of meeting. They came highly recommended from a neighbour. I followed Aria?s advice on which tap to buy and he also fixed a dodgy toilet and will be back to fix a shower which another plumber failed to sort. Will be using him again.

A.F.E. Plumbing have come up trumps for us again and fixed our bath mixer tap this time. Water had started leaking out through the diverter valve when we went to run the bath. Aria was very quick to respond and kept in touch while we were waiting for the correct part, which Dan installed quickly and efficiently when it arrived.

We are very grateful for their expertise and perseverance in fixing the tap as the installation of a new tap would have meant taking the bathroom apart!

They are very polite, professional and courteous. Highly recommended.

Aria has been reliable and efficient in dealing with a couple of plumbing issues for me recently. He always responds promptly via text or what?s app, provides invoices and is easy to deal with. He asked me to post feedback and i am happy to recommend

I also strongly recommend A.F.E. Plumbing Services. They took on a really tricky and urgent job at my house at short notice, opening the ceiling to locate a leak. The work needed a plumber and a carpenter and they pulled off the track-and- trace and completed the fix and repressurised the system in a single afternoon. They kept me well informed all the way and were consistently nice and helpful. Thank you, Aria!

To add to the list (and to address Rainbowsky's concerns, this is a genuine review), I was very happy with the service from Aria and his brother. We had a kitchen tap which needed replacing and this was done quickly and to a great standard. Aria gave advice on different brands of tap and where to buy, which was appreciated.

They also helped trace a slow leak in a bathroom and are helping us decide what course of action to take to remedy - I may be naive but I trust their advice, which has been tailored to our wants (and budget) and not simply a recommendation for the most expensive approach.

It can be hard to find a reliable plumber so I'm glad I looked on this forum!

this is a brave post. I will respond comprehensively

later as need tobe clear.

You are astute and quite correct despite topickering's assurances.

Count the one post only reviews : all have taken detailed instruction and the King's shilling

or in my experience, the plumber's fiver, and follow up harassment, links, phone calls, etc, no bill, receipt,

huge money and still machines in reverse situation, cash or bankers draft !

You must allbe desperate for attention and not understand that call bombing is Aria's MO, and that people do not necessarily want a plumber round Saturday evening when dressing to go out because it suits him as he is always 'just around the corner'

He is pushy and forceful, charming and attentive, relying on our lack of plumbingexpertise and reluctance to diy. In my i stance it was plumbing a machine in.

I opened the door to 3 of them which I found disconcerting unnecessary and overwhelming in my tiny kitchen. Then attempted to sell me taps which I didn't need ? and 85? labour?

Then to send me detailed instruction as to how to register on EDF, contact details and how to phrase a recommendation.

For this consideration I was handed back 5? out of far too much cash payment before rushing off to the next hapless customer.

You will be proud of me to know that I promptly handed this back. My integrity is intact.

There seems to be a dearth of plumbers here it's true but consider : whilst Aria brother and cousin? are cornering the market, gaining work with the promise of larger commissions and smooth talking, placating, always being 5 mins way and receiving excitable albeit for the poster, 'genuine reviews' then this unbalanced situation is bound to continue.

Aria feeds off everyone's gratitude.

Does anyone know his business address ?

Anyone wanting details of the transaction, job, aftermath is welcome to pm of course

Perhaps you could 'phone Aria direct and ask him yourself rather than requesting unreliable information ?

and good luck with a straightforward response, which will be from just around the corner or the OKR, and

make sure you have plenty of cash in the house.

They are in and out within the hour, have you not been listening?

Yes we realise that you are genuine sincere reliable and trustworthy which is why no one has responded as yet to your sycophantic post for which you were paid probably 2@5? and no doubt many many others have been happy with Aria and his men, paid cash did you? or bankers draft? receipt? bill? dates? before/after pics?

Rainbowsky is echoing a number of cynical, sly and subtle responses here directing the alert to the agenda of Aria, not his workforce who leave him to 'sort out' the money, they are probably as much in the dark about his dealings as the taxman.

Do not be taking us for stupid, asthough your ministrations have any credence or value.

I've used them twice and both times they were helpful, reliable and fixed the problems to my satisfaction.

Got them in to install a new radiator and sort a leaky/failing kitchen mixer tap. Aria kept me updated on the price as new issues cropped up - washing machine plumbed wrong by previous plumber, old piping with painted in valves etc. Installed the new rad/mixer tap and all works great. Seem like good honest friendly guys trying to build their business. I'm a landlord and I'd use them again for sure.

We used AFE this week to fix a leak from our water tanks. I noticed the leak when I got home from work on Monday, looked on here for recommendations for a plumber and spoke with Aria. His brother, Dan, was round within about 90 minutes, identified the issue and temporarily stopped the leak. Returned on Tuesday afternoon to replace a value and fit a new overflow pipe. Throughout Tuesday, Dan called or texted to let me know what time he would arrive and all got sorted quickly and easily.

I paid a premium for the emergency call out on Monday evening (which I would expect from any plumber) but the overall cost of resolving the issue seemed reasonable and the service was great.

I know it has been questioned on here why there are so many positive reviews - Aria followed up to check all is ok after the repair and asked for us to provide a review if we were happy to do so. Given tho sis how we found AFE in the first place and the guys clearly care about their customer service and reputation, I think this is just a huge positive - I am happy to support a business which provides this level of service.

I thought twice about posting this because I don't want to get into some kind of weird slanging match with someone who seems a bit keen spray their neuroses onto people they don't know - but I have to set a few things straight. Most importantly, almost all of your assumptions are wrong. I wasn't paid anything to post my review nor was I offered any kind of discount. When I asked for an invoice I got one, as well as the receipt for the new tap I had installed - and then I went online to pay by bank transfer (which is how I pay all the tradespeople I use so I'm not sure why you're flagging that up...?)

I haven't got a problem with your cynicism - I'm sure there are solid reasons for it - but I do take exception to you singling me out as some kind of brown-noser simply for posting a review of someone who did some good work for me.

We have had Aria and his team round to our house on several occasions over the past 3 years. I can recommend his services as honest, upfront and reliable. He was able to send a contact round during the Beast to fix our blocked boiler overflow within 40 minutes and without that kind of understanding between plumber and client we would have spent the weekend without any heating with a small baby in the house.

Any queries I have had with the work undertaken at our house (usually due to my lack of understanding of the work involved) has been met with professionalism and resolve to finish the work to my satisfaction without any quibbles or arguments whatsoever - even after being paid in full. In my years of experience not many trades-people will do that!

We have always paid Aria via BACS and never in cash and we have always been supplied with receipts for any parts needed. He has never been anything but polite and respectful. Although it pains me to pay to keep the plumbing going in our pile of bricks thats just owning houses and in London that comes at a premium. So I would rather pay my money to a team who work in this way and who I can rely upon to come round at short notice and be trusted to just get on with the job.

I hope this goes some way to allay any fears caused by the above threads (some of which brink on the hysterical)and that my recommendation keeps these guys working in the area.

Had A.F.E replace a broken shower pump for us yesterday for their first job with us. Was a difficult job with a tiny space to work with. They stayed until we were completely happy, made no mess and the shower pump works even better than before now.

Aria asks for reviews because he wants to grow his business which is what you?d expect, and I can see why many people would leave positive feedback. Would happily use again and have asked for electricians to do a few other jobs.

    • Noted. I wasn't quite sure from their material whether the 'ad lib' supply by pharmacists had to be mandated; hence the suggestion to check.  There are plenty of individual manufacturers of generic methylphenidate, probably quite a bit cheaper too.  I'm afraid I didn't see radnrach's "can't really take an alternative", so apologies for presuming otherwise.  For myself I'm generally willing to trust that any manufacturer's offering of, say, 27 mg methylphenidate hydrochloride tabs, would contain that, and I'm not too worried about the minor quirks of things like their slow-release technology. I think it's likely that the medicines Serious Shortage Protocol does definitely give pharmacists some degrees of freedom. But it's apparently not in operation here. See the Minister's recent reply to a written question: https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2023-11-13/1660#.   , which seems to approximate to: we can't apply the shortage protocol here because the drugs are in short supply.
    • I'm not sure pharmacists have any discretion to alter specific medication prescriptions, although they can choose supplier where a generic is prescribed which may be offered by more than one company. This will only be for older medicines which are effectively 'out of copyright' . They can't issue alternatives on their own authority as they don't know what counter-indications there may be for specific patients. GPs may prescribe a specific supplier of a generic medicine where, for instance, they know patients have an adverse reaction to e.g. the medicine casings, so the Nottinghamshire directive to specify only generics where available may not always be helpful.
    • I see that in Nottinghamshire the local NHS Area Prescribing Committee is recommending that prescriptions should be for generic methylphenidate, giving their pharmacists the option of supplying any brand (or presumably a generic product). https://www.nottsapc.nhs.uk/media/bw5df5pu/methylphenidate-pil.pdf It might be worth checking with your local pharmacist(s) to see whether this will help them if, as I suppose would be necessary, your GP issues a replacement prescription. I'll have a look around our local NHS websites now, to see if I can find anything there.  Nottingham, btw, provide more information, nominally for clinicians, at https://www.nottsapc.nhs.uk/media/vwxjkaxa/adhd-medicines-supply-advice.pdf.  And at https://www.nottsapc.nhs.uk/adhd-shortages/.
