I really want to master the art of calligraphy and wondered if anyone has experience in this or knows of any good courses to learn it. Maybe if there are other locals wanting to learn we can find someone who will teach us. Wouldn't it be wonderful to write like this:

Also - it doesn't look likely due to lack of response on here - but if anyone would be interested in learning the art of calligraphy once a week - if I can find a keen tutor we might be able to hold a weekly evening class at East Dulwich picture house so let me know! Prob would need 6 or more people interested.

Hello everyone! A little update for you all - I have found a modern calligraphy tutor who is willing to come and do a workshop in East Dulwich for as little as 5 people - It will be more expensive per person if it's only 5 (I have 7 interested so far) if I can get it up to 10 that will obviously reduce the cost but I am waiting to discuss with the manager of Picture House before I can confirm prices.

I think it would be am initial 2-3 hour workshop (again i need to confirm this) and then if enough people love it and are interested we can do a follow up. A starter kit will be included in the cost of lesson to use and to take home.

Please bear with me whilst I find out details and I'll come back on here to confrim dates and costs and we can see if we have enough committed people to pull this off :) At this stage I'd imagine first one would be in September.

Thanks for everyone's interest so far!

    • So let's never do anything that might improve an area, because it will just be dragged down to the level of what's presently there? Is that what you are saying? I don't have the time or the inclination to do the research, but I'm pretty sure that I have read  that when people who had lived in a very run down area  were given  nice surroundings, they appreciated and looked after them.
