Air con at the gym

Recommended Posts

Now that Everyone Active has taken over the contract to run the Dulwich Leisure Centre, I wonder if the air conditioning in the gym will improve. Those of us who have sweltered in the heat there most summers will be sceptical, but perhaps now, at the start of the new contract, the company could be reminded of the improvements needed in this area. The current temperatures are not conducive to a pleasant workout and I dare say they're positively unhealthy for the older or more infirm among us. Fusion, the previous contractors, were warned about this many times but were unable to improve the situation; perhaps the glass roof is the culprit. However, isn't it worth another attempt to get things corrected by a new and, hopefully, enthusiastic contractor? Maybe.

I encourage gym users to ask the front-desk staff about this, complete feedback forms at the Centre, and mention this to your local councillors. Any thoughts, James Barber?

I agree, the last week has been really stifling and they haven't even brought out those mobile air con units

Do they have a capital budget, are they planning on changing the gym infrastructure?

I don't tend to linger at reception but is there any questionnaire for existing members ...there are a number of things about Dulwich that I find less than ideal and I'm a regular gym goer

I recently raised a very basic query with the gym management but I'm now increasingly incensed that, despite chasing several times and finally raising this with the Managing Director and chasing him too, nobody has had the courtesy to reply. The cynical customer support is now annoying me more than the original simple issue. How can a new business refuse to engage with its customers - just reeks of complacent "we have now got the interact so we don't have to bother". So annoyed now that I'm emailing other senior people at EveryoneActive until somebody answers. Appalling.

    • that's exactly what happened - Brickhouse were forced to close due to rent hike and then Gail's didn't move in until covid restrictions lifted and normality resumed. Gail's would have opened much sooner as they were lined up and able to offer the landlord much higher rents. Brickhouse was a local favourite
