Yes I know there is an Ask Admin thread in the 'about the forum' section, but I've decided to start a new thread. The reason being is that I am somewhat baffled by you. Not too long ago on the aforementioned thread I suggested 'fixing' the different party posts in the Drawing Room so they stop slipping down the page as it were. You implemented it though didn't bother to acknowledge my request. Recently I pm'd you with a request regarding the cost of advertising on the forum and sent a further one suggesting that maybe the adverts could be highlighted a little bit more. Lo and behold it seems you've done that too! Not that I'm looking for thanks or a good idea response particularly. Why I'm baffled and given the what's wrong with the EDF thread, it's not too long ago on Ask Admin, someone came up with the 'idea' of starting a particular WC football thread.Nothing wrong with that. Sean was in with 'what a great idea' and you were thanking him for 'asking' first. How many more are they like that I don't really know.

How that differs from the lack on response on two occasions that I had from you only cements the idea in my mind that you and some others form a clique. Frankly in your position of authority I would have thought that not only must you be seen to be objective but you must try to be too. That's all I've got to say. Thank you.

PS I really don't give a stuff about cliques. You either like people or you don't. However on a publicly used forum you should treat people equally.

Dear Narnia

Sorry you feel that way. The fixing posts in the Drawing Room was done by The Chair, I don't go in there, so I suggest you should address that question to them. The highlighting of adverts has only just been done (in the last couple of hours), but you have pre-empted my "Hi Narnia, please have a look at the ads, I hope you think it's an improvement" message.

I hope that answers your questions.

    • Hi Sue, they were not local solicitors. Andrea’s was based in Wales and the other firms involved were large nationwide conveyancing companies (rather than conventional high street solicitors). I’m happy to advise clients and buyers privately on what I believe to be their shortcomings but I don’t think doing so in public on the forum would be appropriate, particularly as they are not locally based. My general advice would always be to steer clear of the big conveyancing companies as they are, in my experience, notoriously difficult to contact when the need arises and the case handler is often not a fully qualified solicitor and so issues have to be referred upwards to “technical teams” internally, which was part of the problem in Andrea’s chain. • A slightly vulnerable but hopeful post… Hi everyone, I’m a guy in my mid-thirties who’s recently moved back to London and East Dulwich (I previously lived here for many years before, so I know the area well). But if I’m honest, I’ve found the return a little tough. Most of my close friends have moved out of London to start families — totally understandable — but it’s left me feeling a bit adrift and not quite sure how to make new connections again. Work has taken up a huge chunk of my life in recent years, and I’ve definitely let hobbies, interests and a proper social life fall by the wayside. I feel like I went from a fun social life in my 20’s to suddenly blinking and realising things had gone a bit er…quiet. So, I’m trying to redress the balance a bit — mainly so myself and my partner don’t murder each other 😂, and just to meet some new local faces. I was wondering: is anyone else in a similar boat? And would there be any interest in starting a relaxed, low-key local social group? Could be a casual pub meet, sports, park hangouts, live comedy nights — open to ideas!  I’m happy to do the organising/admin side of things — just wanted to put it out there and see if there’s any appetite. I’ll gauge interest and take it from there.  If you’d prefer not to reply publicly, feel free to drop me a DM.  Cheers all! 👋
