As Townleygreen says, half-houses share a single street door into a shared hallway, off which there is a separate door into each property.

As for the the properties with two front doors in what looks like a normal entrance... the only ones I can think of are in/around Copleston Rd. These are purpose built maisonettes.

Good thread. Our flat was converted from a house into two flats in the '80s. The ceilings were replastered so the cornicing and ceiling roses are all gone, but mercifully the fireplaces are intact in two of the rooms and we use the living room one in winter.

The upstairs bathroom is still used as a bathroom and houses a toilet and basin now too which means it's a bit small...

There was a load of original Victorian lino on the upstirs landing underneath, some of which was in better nick than the knackered laminate I took up.

And a load of psychadelic wallpaper behind the kitchen cabinets which sadly was in too poor condition to keep.

The loft is curious, because it has a skylight, orginal staircase, 5ft door, lathe and plaster, orginal floorboards but the joists are only 3x2, which I presume means it was just used for storage, or for the maid to sleep in.

I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
