Admin I put a post up here seeking advice about primary schools for my son. And it got taken down why???

I haven't viewed any of these and would love the support and guidance of fellow people.

If it's not allowed please let me know why.

But if anyone does have any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.

Where do you live, you are usually likely to be offered a place for a school near where you live. These schools are at either end of the ED area. If you are have been offered a place higher up primary, for example if you are new to the area, I would suggest that you go for the school close to where you live. This will make it easier for the social aspects of school life for your child.

Thank you so much.

I hadn't received a place for my chosen schools until DW came up which is great because it's opposite my boys nursery school where my youngest will still attend. But now I'm slightly confused as I have heard GG is amazing too but I wanted to hear more from parents.

Thankyou

Hi Sam

I am a parent at GG, and a member of the PTA - I have 2 boys who are going into Year 3 and Year 1 respectively in September. Each of them joined GG in the Nursery and so we've had 4 years at the school. My own experience is of the Lower School Key Stage 1/EYFS teaching, which I feel has been fantastic - kind, enthusiastic, engaged, pro-active and thoughtful.

I have been thrilled and impressed at how well the staff know my children, and how they respond individually to their specific learning & emotional needs, and with the amount of access and information they have provided for me as a parent to support them in their learning : regular parent workshops on Phonics, Maths, Literacy, PSHE etc together with regular classroom access.

The schools 'motto' is Life, Laughter, Learning, and the broad curriculum with lots of specialised teachers reflects this - the Music and Art Provision is exceptional but there is also a strong emphasis & interest in SENCO & PSHE.

All children have Spanish lessons weekly, and all (except Nursery) attend Forest School at least 1 day a week for 1 term. There are ambitious & excellent school productions each term, many musical events, culminating in procession & performances at the school carnival in the summer term. Topic related learning is supported by external trips per Year Group, for example Reception bought ingredients and made items for a Parent Cafe to raise funds for their trip to see The Tiger Who Came to Tea, they read the book in class, wrote shopping lists, menus, invitations to the cafe, used their maths to measure the ingredients to cook the cakes, and 'bill' the customers etc. They also went to Deptford Creek, and Surrey Docks Farm that year.

There are several after school clubs : Drama, Tae Kwondo, Chess, Gymnastics, Art, Football etc although there is demand for more. There is onsite Breakfast & After School Club provision.

The School has a Growth Mindset outlook, believing that hard work, practice & effort are the key to limitless potential, and they engage the children in understanding the science and emotion behind this - they talk with them about the learning pit, about how they can't do it 'YET", they celebrate the effort not simply the success; their goal is empowered, confident, quizzical learners.

Both my children enjoy their time at school, they have good friends and good relations with their teachers, they enjoy the community activities and events that the school & PTA run, and are happy & proud to be Goose Greeners.

From everything I see at GG & hear from my friends at other schools, Primary School Teachers do an exceptional job every day, there are many great schools in the area so whichever you choose I wish you and your son the very best of adventures, Lucy

    • Thanks all, our hope was (despite the diminishing estate) he would get on with it.  Progress is glacial, it's been two years since probate was granted, that's two cold and damp winters with no heating, and not surprisingly a pipe burst. He's blames the issues on the estate agent, who separately had a dispute with him, he had a wobbly when one of the beneficiaries spoke to the estate agent.  Separately he said it was the family's fault for letting the property get into a poor condition.  It was dated, but certainly not in poor condition. There are two five star reviews on Google, and five one star: ** WARNING** This solicitor firm has to be one of the worst I have encountered. The solicitor is prehistoric in his practices and will carry out work at his own snails pace, the fax machine he uses gets turned off at 2 pm and its near impossible to get him on the phone. STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, check the solicitors ombudsman, this firm has previous bad practice recorded.   Disgusting under no circumstances use this solicitor. For over 10 years he has not carried out the terms of a Will he has not re-invested money but has retained it.  He writes letters which are pure "Flannel" excuses for doing nothing.  You have been warned   shocking experience, delayed the whole process, told other side solicitors to not contact him as he feels pressured etc. never use.   Not fit for 21st century. No website, no email address, no electronic transfer. Very slow, very little communication.   Was not a pleasant experience dealing with this firm
