malleymoo
Hi all my daughter has booked tickets for travel to Bristol. Does anyone know if she needs to take proof of her age and if so can she use her zip card to prove this ? Jules-and-Boo
depends on type of tickets bought - did you use a Young Persons Railcard or other? If o, you'll need that.If you're concerned otherwise, she shouldn't need proof of age to travel. Renata Hamvas
I've travelled with young people using a friends and family railcard (my kids plus others) and we've never been asked for proof of age, only for the railcard. As Jules says she'll need her railcard if the ticket was purchased with one. I think the Zip may be a good thing just in case as you need a passport/birth certificate to apply for it or a photocopy of her birth certificate/passport. I just think it may be less stressful for her if she is travelling alone, just to have something with her just in case.Renata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/116395-teenager-travelling-on-national-rail/#findComment-1028354 Share on other sites
malleymoo
Thank you both for your response. She didn't state younger sons railcard . I just was really uncertain as she looks older than her age an was worried she will be questioned about having a child's ticket. I love the fact she is confident in doing things but it does cause a bit of worry ! Jules-and-Boo
In which case just take her Zipcard. It would be pretty mean of a guard to bother a young person travlling alone. You could always write a letter with your details on, should the situation arise and to avoid your daughter feeling uncomfortable.
